Excelling at short to mid range accuracy casts, with a sensitive tip that is actually designed to cast true-to-weight 5WT flylines. Perfect for fishing small flies on fine tippets. Being a 5WT it will of course turn its hand to be able to fish streamers and heavy nymphs… up to a point! The rod can generate very high line speed, in the right hands, and so will throw 100-130’ - if you don’t have a boat!
Order now. Shipping in Mid-March 2022. It’s taken us a very long time to finalise the design for this rod! We are very excited to finally be able to launch this Sexyloops Hot Torpedo 5. www.sexyloops....

I remember in other clip you said that a 5# rod should be able to cast the leader. I see you guys did it. 🤩 Congrats and I’m from Spain living in US, glad Juan is behind the manufacturer. You are going to open the eyes of many fly roders with the video presentation. Looks manufacturers will be lurking on this one also, All the best for this 2022 Mag

Thanks Mag! They will all will cast just the leader, but some feel much better than others! 😀 It’s is a crazy situation where rods are being manufactured so stiff that anglers often feel the need to overline them and to the extent where flyline manufacturers are regularly overweighting their lines to compensate. What I truly can’t understand about this, is why companies who manufacture both rods and lines still do this. 😡When an angler buys a 5WT rod but has to put a 7 line on it, what is he supposed to do? Put his delicate dry flies away and pull out his streamer box? 😂 I’ve been working with our Spanish friends for years. Our blanks are rolled in Spain and I work closely with a friend to make this happen. And of course Sexyloops has a huge history with Spain in Carlos the Magnificent! www.sexyloops.com/carlos/

Great video. I like that you laid out what the 5-weight is for, and that it is intended to be used for fishing. Honestly, I think I'd like one. The name alone sells it.... the Hot Torpedo. That's money.

😀😀Yep well a 5WT rod should be an all-round tool for a 5WT line! But with so many uses I needed to focus on one thing. Accuracy made sense. 🤠

Oh no not another 9ft rod for a #5.....it's a beautiful rod and I'm glad you have gone back 50 years and made a 5 rod that is made for a 5 line......seems they knew what they was doing. Joking aside......the market is awash with these things so I wish you all the best Paul. It's a tough market right now.

Thanks Lee! Yes it’s bizarre the direction fly rods have taken by some manufacturers. The whole fly line situation is a complete mess. Hard to believe that our unique selling position is a 5WT rod that’s actually designed to cast a 5WT line 😀

Great video. All of your videos are a must for beginners as well as experienced casters. I had a quick question from the 9:30 minute mark. Do you make a subtle grip switch or adjustment as you extend the cast? It looks like you make a change and the reel takes on a different posture. If so can you explain?
@SexyloopsTV
@SexyloopsTV Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, it’s a quick question but a long answer 😎 I really should do a video on grips. I think for general casting wrist flexion/extension is far better than ulnar and radial deviation. There are even instructors who teach little or no wrist, which for me makes no sense. I like to use the wrist and so orientating the palm facing forwards, for both back and forward casts is how I do it - like knocking on a door. And sometimes as I do that, it can put the reel out to the side. It’s possible to adjust the reel position at the start - and indeed during that casting sequence I see I make that change while false casting! (I did that because I thought someone might say “why is the reel out to the side? 😆) I think that change is the bit you noticed! But there is more to it than that (isn’t there always?!) because I also use pronation and supination (torque twist), I sometimes “block” the wrist with the index finger, particularly for delivering overpowered backhand curves, which just works better for me. And for distance I often use what is called the “cradle grip” which holds the cork in the curvature of the fingers and final rod rotation is created by closing the fingers - and for that I have the wrist in the ulnar deviation plane! So I have a range of grip positions, wrist movements, and in fact they can even change between back and forward cast and not only between different casts. And they certainly change as carry length increases and as I move between different overhead casting techniques/ body positions. I just knew it was going to be a long answer! I will make a video on this because I think it’s quite interesting, largely not well understood and really quite important at some level. Cheers!

That looks fantastic mate! Would you use it for the Gourami game or keep on going with the HT6? Cheers, Piffen
@SexyloopsTV
@SexyloopsTV 2 жыл бұрын
Yep. It will stick Gourami. I used the HT4 for a while when I busted the 6. I’ll be up in Sungai Tiang again soon and will use it on the Mahseer there. The HT5 Is for anglers who want a 5. It would take a lot to get the 4 out of my hands in the same fishing circumstances 😀 However I have a very good use for the 5 and it’s my 5MED accuracy rod. The HT4 is too soft at the longer targets and the HT6 too stiff to be fun.

That’s the SA MED5 (comp orange 120’) which has a very similar profile to the SA Trout taper.

fuck, paul, i just got done with buying christmas gifts… but now i think i will buy an HT 5wt for red fishing. Finally convinced hartman to start lawn casting with me at the park. Will have him use it too once i buy one. 🫣

You should take the MED5 and throw it on the HT5,,6 and 10. 5 is fishing. 6 is casting fun. And 10 is all out distance. I’ll have to get back over and annoy you guys 😎
