Idk about their relationship, but what I think I see is Hongjoong looking out for Seongwha, maybe because he's older, and HJ can feel a bit conscious of being leader to an older brother, or maybe because SH has low self confidence or self esteem sometimes and needs some special attention, to feel included. He can look a bit left out, so whatever it is, I'm glad someone is there for him. 🦋🏴‍☠

i think he knows that seonghwa grew up as a rather coddled baby in his house and while seonghwa def plays the role of oldest hyung/mom well, he also remembers that seonghwa wants to be viewed as cute and lovely and hence, always asks him to do aegyo and also takes care of him bc technically speaking, seonghwa is supposed to take care of the rest of them bc he's the oldest but who's gonna take care of seonghwa? also, as seonghwa has said before, he had really low self esteem and it was really hongjoong who showed him what his strengths were and i guess how important his contributions to the team are, which made him feel more at home with them, i guess. hongjoong's spent a lot more time working in this industry than seonghwa and so i guess he kinda feels this protective instinct towards seonghwa, especially bc this industry can really chew you up and spit you out if you don't have a strong mentality

Aaaahh, this is so gorgeous and comprehensive! You really know your Seongjoong and got those beautiful moments of tension and growth from even their early days in here~! The only notable missing things are those super-gay magazing photoshoots from summer 2019, the First Look in NYC where HJ pulls SH's arms around him to backhug him as they wait for the shoot to begin, then the shoot in the playground where SH carries HJ piggyback, and they splash water on each other, etc. Then that studio shoot where HJ is wearing the red hearts shirt with the extremely plunging neckline and gets called in to put his arm on Seonghwa's shoulder for Hwa's individual shoot. Ooh! And also that one interview in Thailand where HJ is just staaaaaaring mesmerized at the side of Seonghwa's face as he answers a question. Lastly, the Seongjoong konbini date in Japan (May 2019), where "MATZ" was coined and HJ talks in the cutest baby talk to Seonghwa about stuff he wants to eat at the konbini and gets super-happy when Hwa indulges him like a patient boyfriend. XD That one is in Logbook 37, I believe.

Seonghwa says that Hongjoong is the best leaders, and that is correct for their group. if you were to put Namjoon of BTS as the leader, just like randomly switch them, it would not end up well for either group. the groups are practically made for each other, and the amount of time they've spent together is large so they know how to deal and handle each other. but you change one factor in those equations, it goes falling like dominos
