Finally a guitarist who is able to present this amp in right way with some seriuous playing skills. Love that, unfortunately I need a House first:)

Great sound and playing 👍 !!! I love my Charvel Warren DeMartini Blood and Skull and the sound of the Seymour Duncan RTM. Just bought an Ibanez RG 550, but I don't like the bridge pickup. I would like to install a Dimarzio pickup instead. Wich Dimarzio bridge pickup would you recommend, that sounds similar and comes closest to the Seymour Duncan RTM? Thanks!

Awesome sounding Joel. How would you compare this to say the Suhr Aldrich?
@JoelDucote11 ай бұрын
I'd say output wise they are pretty close. The Aldrich is a bit smoother and more balanced. The Aldrich is my favorite pickup by a long shot, but I love to try new stuff. I wanted to make this guitar more of an 80s style shred stick. The mids on the RTM are a bit more forward than on the Aldrich.

Nice playing Joel , do you have the matching cabinet with the 5150 stealth s with the evh greenback ? I can't afford a big amp like that but I do have the evh 5150 Lbx s with the matching 1x12 cabinet with the evh greenback inside the sound is like heaven...ho do you find that new pickup I read that it was an alnico 2 with lots of output how does it compare to a jb or an evh pickup....thanks for the content
@JoelDucote11 ай бұрын
Yes, I have the EVH 412 cab. The RTM has more of a push than the JB. To me, it is a little thicker sounding.
@mikeallen529111 ай бұрын
@@JoelDucote Agreed, as much as I LOVE the JB and it's midrange growl, the RTM has exactly like you said, a 'push' in its tonality. Whereas an EVH is has a biting quality that really takes some time to get used to when EQ'ing in a mix.

I just put an RTM in one of my guitars- it was like an ice pick, but I heard that alnico II awesomeness in there. I have JBs with 1meg volume pots (no tone pots) in all of my other guitars, so I'm no stranger to open pickups, but this was just TOO bright. I put a 250k volume in with the RTM and there it was- pure A2 awesomeness. So if you find the RTM is just way too bright, just use a 250k volume pot to tame it.
@JoelDucote8 ай бұрын
I'm running mine with a 500k volume and a no-load tone pot. I usually don't mess with the tone knob...lol!
@tommyibanez39588 ай бұрын
@@JoelDucote I was just thinking to I need to move the volume pot to 500k. I just pull the tone pots out now and move the volume where the tone was (like classic Gilbert). I realized the only time I ever touched my tone was when it oxidized and needed to be replaced.

Would a Jazz model work well with RTM humbucker?

No idea. It’s something my wife picked up at an arts and crafts store.

@JoelDucote my mother was a folk artist, Pat Fischer. She did a lot of very similar type of stuff.

The white box on top of the head, how does that work? Is it an attenuator?
@JoelDucote11 ай бұрын
That’s a Two Notes Captor X. It is an attenuator and IR loader. When I play live I send front of house an IR instead of micing the cab. It is more consistent. And saves me from relying on a crappy club mic. I am not using the attenuator function with this amp.

Hi Joel, trying to decide between RTM and Holy Diver, was wondering what your pick would be for alder bodied san dimas and why?
@JoelDucote11 ай бұрын
Between the two, I prefer the RTM. It has a fuller tone. There is still plenty cut, but I find that it has a more percussive bottom end attach. I like the Holy Diver, but some times felt that it needed just a bit more bottom end.

How would you compare it to a modern JB? Cheers!
@JoelDucote9 ай бұрын
It’s got more thump in the bottom end. Not necessarily more bottom end, but it’s just more percussive. The mid range is a little sweater.

Would you say the RTM feels like a medium output or high output?
@JoelDucote11 ай бұрын
It has the immediacy under the fingers of a higher output pickup. Though I don’t feel like it’s going to get away from me either. If you’ve played a JB, the feels is similar. Just bigger sounding.
@UncleYoshi11 ай бұрын
@JoelDucote thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like a really good beefy pickup 👍🏻

@@JoelDucote I believe the RTM is just an overwound JB with an Alnico 2 magnet. I would love to A/B the RTM with a Custom Custom.
@JoelDucote11 ай бұрын
@@psc69nyc yes, but it is more than just an overwound JB. It definitely has JB dna, but it has some extra mojo happening too.
