The US Navy has mastered the art of power projection, but they also do a lot of protect commercial vessels and vital trade lanes. Id argue the USN is the single most important branch in the United States' military. Think of a force so powerful that it could effectively strike targets anywhere on the globe in a matter of hours. It could land boots on the ground in multiple countries on the same day. In all of history, only the US Navy has had these capabilities. Godspeed to these brave sailors and pilots who are serving their country. It's not easy to do what they do. May they all come home safely. 🇺🇲

I don't believe USA mastered the art of power projection. USA is isolated from Europe and Asia and its only access to other worlds is through the seas. It had all the time it needed to develop without major wars bordering with countries not its size which could directly threaten its existence. The USA had the time and money to invest in its military, got favorable circumstances when the whole of Europe was in ashes and decided to take advantage of this by setting naval bases and from WW2, had the opportunity to create stable and long term allies. Not too long ago, France and Britain were the masters of the seas.

@Hattonbank3 жыл бұрын
@First Class Janitor of Mordor I was referring to the Barbary wars in 1805 when the US and Swedish navies fought the four north African countries that were basical pirate nations, Morocco being one of them. The USS Tripoli was named after the sea battle off the coast of the city of Tripoli. As a Brit I was intrigued as to why the ship was called Tripoli, so I looked it up, as most USN carriers to my knowledge were named after see battles (Pacific mostly) and land battles (against the British) or US presidents, or historicaaly famous ships like the Big E.
