It's crazy that nobody surpassed that skill level that these japanese dudes had like in 2003 . You would think somebody will surpass them as time goes on but nope .. insane skill level .

Its circumstance, to get strong players you need a scene. A scene needs offline locals, a big pool of young players and a good game. These guys would blow up any fighting game today in the right circumstances in raw talent. Third Strike though is nothing but OG grand master now.

No way man. 2003 was primitive compared to 3s nowadays. The game is still being played by the best of the best despite their age. Kuroda sure is my favorite 3s player but Deshiken stomps all over him, anyday, any year

​@@cleangoblin2021i mean it's kind of different now because at the highest level there's only 3 characters viable currently, yun , chun and makoto cause makoto counters chun but loses to yun so it's a toss up really who will get the number 1 . Although seeing what they do in this set right here is still beyond 99.9% of 3rd strike players . Nobody outside of Japan is on this level 20 years later ..

Often in arcade place they change dipswitch to 3 round so you get more playtime out of your coin. Maybe there's another reason though

I think it's because it's more fair in the sense that, you can bullshit your way to victory and take 2 rounds, but doing that 3 times in a match is much more unlikely, so the most skilled player will be the one taking the match more often in a best of 5 than in a best of 3.

Deshiken plays one character at a high level, Kuroda played most of the cast at a high level, there is a big difference.

@@aymen_b1267 So in a save ur life type situation you''d pick Kuroda then since he plays the game at high level with every chara? Fair enough but I'd go with Deshi every time. Every tourney Kuroda won, it was Mov that won the last game. I agree however Kuroda developed the game to a higher playstyle than it was and influenxed how the game is played to a higher degree than it was.
