Chun's SAII is super damaging and links into her bajillion pokes, Genei Jin is more game changing and has a shorter meter, Ken's SAIII lets you mash crouching short into a super easy hit confirm and Makoto's SAII from a Karakusa usually leads to bigger combos. Plus, you have to work your ass off to get aegis unblockables to land, far less frequently. It's definitely good but say it's the "cheapest rape SA" is more than debatable.

I just jumped back into 3S after like a year-long hiatus and ran into a Urien player; we went back and forth with this matchup for about an hour and went 50/50 for wins. My Hugo is still rusty but it feels good to get back into it again

The instant the projectile comes out, you immediately move the stick to the back position to start charging your next move. Takes about thirty seconds of practice to get it down. You can also do the same thing with charge moves. Just move the stick back immediately after executing the move and you'll be fully charged while the move executing, or really soon after. Highly useful technique. Consider it absolutely mandatory.

Som characters, being difficult to use and unpopular, take other players by surprise. Everybody knows to back off from Yun's Genei Jin and Chun-Li's Houyoku Sen; a lot fewer guard effectively against Elena's EX juggles, Hugo's Giant Palm Bomber, Necro's corner traps or Ibuki's chains. Hugo definitely has a disadvantage against Yun. He's good against Ibuki, Gouki and Makoto if you play him right. High damage rips up the first two while the Moonsault Press guards against the Karakusa.

YSB is so genious... he totally set up the ending of the first round wiht the running grab. The whole round he did the running clothesline on wake up. than the last one he did a grab. MAN SO SMART

The sailor moon dressed Hugo player is HAYAO!!!!!! He and Kuroda, the Q player, were cos-playing. HAYAO dressed in pink and feminine like Poison-Hugo's manager. By the way, HAYAO is the best Hugo player in the world. The tiers still make a difference.

Yeah Yun probably just wasn't used to playing a Hugo... Hugo is my main and I find that for a lot of players I can just destroy them with dash-in 360s because they don't have the right rhythm yet in the first couple rounds (but they suck). It's insane to say that hugo has an advantage over Yun, he just has a lot of ways to really hurt any character. IMO he's just fun to use and a lot of players aren't used to fighting him.

Hard to say whether Hayao would do any better. Main difference is that Hayao is plays much more conservatively compared to YSB's monstrously agressive hugo. I love both these guys though, some of the best in the game.

@akaisyaoran Hold down to charge, then let the controller go to neutral and hit the mp, then press up and punch to combo into headbutt. You'll be surprised at how lenient the combo actually feels.

"Low-tier" doesn't mean the character has no chance of winning. It just means the player has to work harder because of natural disadvantages. I think Hugo is ranked a bit too low on tier lists, but he is mid-to-low, at best, because he has no long-distance options, a huge body with lots of target points, and difficult if powerful Super Arts. Hugo has an advantage over Remy, Gouki/Akuma and Necro, but Ryu/Ken, Yun/Yang, Chun-Li, Urien and Dudley are all a nightmare for him.

Well, I figure if nobody fights a human controlled Gill player then they'll never know how good they can get, or what strategies to develope ya know? And as for Gill's resurrection Super Art, I think the only unfair moment would be if both Gill and the player knocked each other on the floor and they could gain more health. Because it's up to the player to "kill" Gill and when he resurrects himself he'll only gain a little more health since the player is standing right next to them with a counter

but still, with his Serphic Wing, he would be too powerful since it can't be parried. Unlike other characters, Gill was meant to have the advantage. Using him in tournament play is unethical. Besides, Gill is not selectable in the arcade version of Third Strike.
