The Malaysian Chineses’ ancestor left China for Malaysia before the Cultural Revolution, making our traditional culture intact and distinct. We still speak our Southern Chinese languages (Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Teochew, Hainan, Fuzhou, Guangxi, Sankiang), and retain a lot of the old customs and culture. The high pole lion dance, Lou sang, Bakuteh dish were invented in Malaysia. We too produce the most Chinese New Year songs, even more than China Hong Kong and Taiwan.

There is ONLY ONE WAY to keep anything alive. EAT, SPEAK, READ and USE it everyday. This is a time honored method for any culture.

I miss delicious food in Malaysia, used to be stationed there for work in Penang for a few years before covid. People are very friendly and nice, along with the delicious food. Is such a blessing for us as foreigners to experience.

There a Malaysian restaurant in NYC my friends and I frequented. There was definitely fusion of Chinese and Malay taste on a few dishes. Rest were distinctly Malaysian. I’m n FL now so miss it! The Chinese food I tried here is weird tasting. I grew up in Chinatown so I was spoiled😢

Ethnic Chinese made their way to Malaya and Indonesia via Thailand. In the past, the Malay sultanates often sent tributes to the Chinese dynasties.

Bbacl then the whole Peninsular and Temasek.was Siam.controlled. . Paramewara thst fled from Palemvang was just renting a plot of land for 40 tahil of Gold from Siam...The chinese and Ibdians have been staying in thse region for a long time due Kedah a trading City for both China and India.
