One day out of 353(Xmas and turkey day)is NOT going to kill you. The GM also told a coworker that they couldn't go to a family members funeral because they 'had to be here to work.' This seems to me to be probably some former owner of the house who got lost once in the blizzard and froze to the death and now his spirit returned to his house just to see it occupied by different man, enraged that his property, warm and safety belongs to another person it knocks at the door hoping to get inside however spirits and other supernaturals cannot enter someone's house uninvited so therefore its knocking at his door and windows hoping it will let it enter the building.

I have a bit of a theory about what the creature is I like to think it's a spirit of some kind, specifically from someone who froze/starved to death in a blizzard, the way he described it's eyes being filled with "hate and jealously" lends creadence to this, it attempts to screw people over who aren't suffering when there's extreme weather like what it died in
