Alex is fun. He also doesn't have much in the way of real shenanigans if you know his gimmicks, so his success always comes down to good reads. That's what makes him so fun to watch; he's a not-great to okay character with a massive skill ceiling. A lot like Alex, Hugo, and Q from 3rd Strike.

There are very few Alex mains who are active tournament players, sadly. Most are online warriors. There is still a lot you can learn, and it's still very fun to watch. Alex isn't tournament material because to reap huge rewards he has to damn near bet his life on everything, which higher tier characters don't necessarily have to do.

Then the system is broken. For a character like Alex, who has a 3:1 strength ratio compared to someone like Rashid.. off of a stun? 3 power hits and that didn't finish the opponent. But had it been the golden boy Ryu a weak hadouken would have killed... yea, the scales are tipped..

Czesnek He didn't drop Ryu. He's been playing Ryu a lot lately too, and his Ryu is a lot better now than it was in Season 1. He has always used both characters. He used to play Guile long before a lot of his current fans even knew who he was.

Czesnek To be fair, Guile in SF5 is way more OP than he was in SF4, and I do think he's better overall as well. But I guess that's come come down to preference for some. I've seen a lot of players that didn't even touch Guile in 4 using him in 5. He's better here.

Well as these are ranked matches Daigo didnt pick him into Alex to counter but he used to swap between some charakters in the past. As far as i know he is playing more ryu lately, but i dont think that we can always get a answers to the question why he plays a ceartain charakter because he might just swap them cause he feels like it every now and then, even without any changes on the charakters

They nerfed his st.lk, Daigo said he didnt care about his other nerfs but that was the one that made him drop Ryu. Tokido also dropped him for akuma and even Kuroda switched from Ryu to Urien.

As awesome as Gunfight is, he dropped a couple really easy combos that cost him rounds. I was practically shouting at the screen when he was kicking Daigo's ass in one round, got him with the Sledgehammer, and then instead of finishing with the powerbomb to close out the round, he stood there! And then Daigo made a comeback and won the round and the match. I know top players are just people, but shit, stuff like that makes me wonder how a guy gets to be the top Alex in the game.

Official Master It's kind of hard not to be good with Guile tbh. Guile's game plan is basically always the same: Spam enough booms to force your opponent into making mistakes and then flash kick when they close in, lol. His VT can also combo into the most damaging combo in the game. I prefer his Ryu tbh. In the end, all Guiles end up looking the same.
