I'm not questioning Smug, The guy is a fucking beast and love the bastard. However, the fact this success came only after the recent buffs to his character can't be ignored. Balrog is a little too much now.

not entirely, smug was pretty high on the leader board last season, Balrog did get some buffs but so did other characters, dont see guile #1 and hes regarded as the top of the tier lists right now.

Trevor Dodge SPD won't beat a jab or a dp. Thats why a throw at times is good, keeps the opponent on their toes and makes them afraid to wake up buttons

It seems fairly self explanatory to me but il help you. Its a ranked game they are taking seriously and they want a consistent background. It has squares everywhere which are a great visual reference for spacing and giving a better instinctive feel to when you can pull moves out.

VTrigger with meter gives Balrog CA damage. He doesn't really need a CA. Especially in crush counter season 3 Balrog will probably be nerfed.

Compare the number of whiffs in SF5 compared to many other fighting games and how rarely they get punished. At the very highest level of play in the world players are whiffing as many as 20+ attacks in a round. This is likely due to a combination of input delay meaning both that players are trying to predict what might happen next as they won't have time to react to it combined with when they whiff an attack the player will be unable to respond in time. The are also a huge number of attacks that are unpunishable on block. As a result the game involves a huge amount of "fishing" for a hit/counter hit. I hope this helps you understand my point.
