I am trying to write and joined several writers groups after my writing for film course….i am a army vet, worked construction, a bouncer, fought forest fires, was a cop for several years including time as a child abuse investigator and crisis negotiator, and I was a little surprised as to the number of writers in these groups who have “trauma” they have as a lived experience…I am now avoiding these groups… but I have noticed that grants, positions, and internships are not open to me as someone without any self proclaimed pronouns

Not surprised one bit by what is essentially the establishment. I dabble in writing, fanfiction, original, and got into the Xenaverse in the early 2000s. The Xenafandom was heavily lesbian. If your story showed conservatives/Christians, and to some extent men, in positive views your story would get hate e-mail from 'Christian' groups. Essentially it was a group within the fandom that saw such stories as counter to their ideals and therefore must be stopped. I actually did get some popularity, and as that happened I made it into what I consider the backrooms of some sites. I actually saw them organize an attack on another writer because her story had a republican as a good person in the story. That went against their ideals. Over the years since I've heard the backroom ideology rumor many times and see its still in place today.

I'm honestly shocked that SFWA is still choosing to honor MZB. I used to belong to a historical LARP group that MZB was a founding member of. Her name was even used in promotional literature for the organization because of MZB's status as a "celebrity" writer. However, any mention of MZB was completely erased from any and all materials after the news about her involvement with her late husband's (Walter Breen) activities back in the late 1990's, followed by a lawsuit in the mid-aughts against the historical LARP that invoked Breen's name. (The LARP settled the lawsuit and nearly folded because of the financial strain.) At the very least, MZB's association with other subcultures/organizations that formerly had her on a pedestal has been elided for around two decades. So bizarre that SFWA is continuing to refuse to disassociate from MZB after all the revelations.

According to the ISFDB, her legal name is Catherine Tigerlily Rambo! For some reason I suspect it's not her birth name, but I could be very wrong about that. While I've heard her name bandied for years, I haven't heard any of her works being put forth as a must read. Same with Jeffe Kennedy and the other "big name authors" who are part of SFWA. I have no desire to seek out and read any of their books. Modern SF doesn't impress me, to the point where I seek out the work of writers who have been sadly forgotten. John Brunner and Bob Shaw are two whose works I've been getting into and enjoying. Women educated in colleges since the 1960s come out mostly indoctrinated into the feminist/leftist ideology. Most of the political woes of the 21st century come out of the fact that 1960s radicals remained in college as academics and the traditions of colleges elevate academics in administrative roles based on seniority of employment. As a result, academia has become a factory for producing political radicals who do NOT question the Academic Marxism of their professors. I think the coming collapse of the college degree racket will lead to a new birth of sanity and freedom in the western world.
