I can't believe the amazing sound coming out of that ukulele. I didn't know you could rock out like that with an ukulele. I have to add that one to my collection. I didn't even know they had electric ukuleles. Awesome video. I love the horns and that awesome intro

hey i'm from germany and as i saw your video, i knew i must have an electric ukulele, wow. It's amazing because it combined a smart traveller kit and experimental sound. Highway to hell by AC/DC, Ozzy's Iron Man and paranoid, one classic blues like George Thorogoods bad to the bone and Deep Purples smoke on the water are in a very clear sound, so it triggered me. I'll try different kinds of strings on it and will play with many different effects. I know i can use it for my steetmusic jams and hope i can use it for one of my rockbands too, or to record samples for own Psytrance tracks with it. So by this price it's ideal for me, learning to play ukulele by this way, recording and modulating my own riffs. All over i want to support your nice style of making demonstration-videos, it was really fun to see and listen.

I got one of these for my missus last year and only just got round to fixing it. Thomann replaced it, but didn't want the first one as it would've been more expense on their end to ship the first one back. They both had the same issue; the entire bridge assembly is slightly more than 1mm too close to the neck, which seriously affects intonation. After removing and shfting position, all is going well now. As someone who is relatively proficient in guitar repair, this was a bit more difficult due to my sausage fingers! It was a tad daunting, which us why it took me so long to repair. Anyway, good review and great playing sir.
@JoeySchmidt742 жыл бұрын
Also, forgot to mention, on both of them the nut had a sub millimetre gap between the fingerboard, which also affected the intonation.

Can you please tell me how do you switch the gains? Is there something you do on the ukulele or is it on the amplifier? I play regular ukulele and want to buy an electric one to rock!!! \m/
@MrHardguitar4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need an amplifier to play this ukulele. Gain is adjustable on the amplifier. I used a gain from my amp (for some songs) and from guitar distortion pedals. I plug ukulele in the pedal, and only then in the amplifier. For the beginning, you just need a guitar amp with two channels - clean and gain (or overdrive, or distortion...). And GOOD LUCK 🍀🤘

Hi Mykola, can you give some more pieces of information as to how you recorded your instrument. Did you plug it directly to the amplifier with the standard supplied cord? Or did you use a special cord? Did you add a preamp between the instrument and the amp? Or did you record directly the dry sound of the instrument with some sort of mike without using the instrument pick up? Thanks
@mawi57043 жыл бұрын
Hi. Im also interested in how he recorded. The one thing that I saw from the video is that he definitely didn’t use a supplied cord. The Cable used is a right angle fender instrument cable. Costs about $20. If you have bought the Ukulele or will buy it. I would definitely recommend you to invest in a high quality cable. I broke many cables over time. Even higher quality Fender ones. The best cables I used so far are the Cordial Series 25 and a Mogami (I don’t remember which one). They each run you between $40 and $70. The cool thing about them is that they have neutrik silent plugs. That means that when you pull them out they don’t make any noise. Hope you’re having fun playing :)
@mawi57043 жыл бұрын
And by the way. Just saw it: If he used the Marshall amp in the back he definitely had something in between the amp and uke. Maybe a preamp, effects pedal or buffer. The Cable going into the amp is a different one than the one leaving the uke.

Harley Benton didn't pay me for this video. In this video I shared my personal opinion. In short, this ukulele is a very fun thing. If it cost $300, I would rate it more critically.
@richardervins11 ай бұрын
@@MrHardguitar That‘s not the issue. Thomann uses your video. And people obviously take it seriously. I would pay double the price if I got an actually usable instrument. In matter of fact, that is what I did: After realizing the Harley Benton wouldn’t work, I bought a Fender Strat Uke - that is also manufactured in Asia - at 149,- € -and it‘s perfect, I use it on stage, and it’s a lot of fun. The HB hangs on the wall and just looks good (even after Thomann sent two new ones). All said, maybe it would be nice if you‘d mention all of the shortcomings of such a piece - and not just the QC issues. 😇✌️

@nankypooh655 Жыл бұрын
I was rather disappointed. For starters, it's no different than my Epiphone Les Paul uke, except the Epi LP has nylon strings while the HB has steel strings. Also the Epi is an acoustic/electric hybrid hollow body while the HB SG is a solid body, but, soundwise, I didn't really hear any difference. That's fine, though because it DOES rock. HOWEVER...... I noticed that it only has one strap peg, and not two. So I need to get a second one put on there, but the REAL disappointment was with the tuning pegs. When it arrived it was horribly out of tune. Only three out of the four strings stayed in tune for the most part, but the A string kept slipping out of tune. I kept tuning it, and tuning it, until the string finally snapped on me, which I was afraid that was going to happen. After I removed the string, I noticed that the tuning peg was rather loose and wobbly, so now, not only do I have to get a second strap peg attached to the back of my uke, I also after to quite possibly replace a tuning peg, and if they're all like this, I'll have to replace all four of them. This is a major inconvenience, and not a good way to make a good first impression, no matter how low the price. I'm still gonna keep it, and rock out on it once I take it to my local luthier, and have them do the proper work, but I'm going to save up my money and get a Flight SG electric ukulele, in hopes of better quality and quality control. On a Fight, you can actually see the pick ups, (Two twin single coil humbuckers, located at the bridge and neck) and two volume and tone controls, and a three way toggle switch. Have you tried one, yet? You should do a review on that and see how the two compare.
