I took a Metra trip from Chicago to Mishiwaka, Indiana, when I contemplated moving there. I'm glad that I later moved to Bellingham, Washington instead.

The sceme from a train going Down a street seeing side streets glide by feels and looks strange to me looking at the chairs and tables on people's front porches where they have a cup of coffee and cake seeing that from a train is really strange to me

Great video yet the train seems to run really slowly! Maybe I was expecting this to be the 110mph train.

Too many sharp curves.
@BoratWanksta7 жыл бұрын
Actually on the South Shore there aren't a lot of sharp curves, except for a few portions of track. I.e. when the train curves from 10th to 11th Street west of the downtown Michigan City stop, the curving the tracks do just before the South Bend Airport stop(and why NICTD has proposed moving the station to the west side of that airport, along with a new track route connecting to the existing tracks to shave something like 10-15 minutes off of travel time), the junction to/from Metra Electric tracks at 115th Street(this can sometimes be a chokepoint causing delays to South Shore trains, heck I experienced this going east on Saturday 2/17/18, along w/4 westbound trains), to name the only curves I can think of. Honestly, it's more a problem of speed limits being a little slower than they once were, decades ago.

No. Not really. It is the last of what was almost a network of Interurban Railways that connected small towns and rural areas with major cities. In the Chicago area, there used to be the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee, the Chicago Aurora and Elgin and probably others that I'm not aware of.
