The boss is definitely a bat in some way, but crossed with an insect cuz of the four wings and the tail which looks like a caterpillar’s, but then it has those pincers at the end of the body like a scorpion. Anyway, I love the mutant-type boss designs in this game.

Backseater's Tips #5: At the beginning area of the ambush where the mounted gatling gun is, there is a treasure chest up the ladder on the left side of the area containing a Trilliant cut diamond Treasure. Other than that, good fucking showing against Popokamiru, guys. That has to be one of the smoothest fights I've seen against it. I find it funny how Irving apparently just had that truck on standby ready to ambush you as a worst case scenario. I agree with Matt about preferring the SVD over the Dragunov. It may have the advantage of being semiautomatic, but I think you end up getting more raw power out of the SVD by the end of its upgrade cycle.

Been doing local co-op with my wife in this game. The squished split screen is much more manageable with modern tvs of today, but it’s definitely still hard to make out certain things in the distance (cough emblems cough).

The cutscene at the beginning is a good example of how much less charming this game is than RE4. There's no cheesy, memorable lines, the writing is all very straightforward and bland. It's not until Wesker comes in that it starts to become entertaining.

Here's the thing: RE4's cheese was only done because the original, nowhere-near-as-campy, Japanese script was so rushed and terrible that the English localization made fun of it by being a blatant parody. In fact Shinji Mikami himself (RE4 writer-director) hates RE4's OG story and praised the remake for actually being what he wanted to do but wasn't given the time to do. With RE5, the original Japanese script was actually much better and so they tried to translate it for real. Unfortunately, as with a lot of more "literal" translations, they ironically stripped it of some of the levity it did have. RE4's dialogue is only so memorable because the original script was so bad, RE5 is less memorable because ironically the original script was pretty good. That said, Chris isn't Leon anyways. Leon has more humor than Chris, that was true even in the PS1 days. It wouldn't make sense to have Chris quip like Leon, they're different characters.

@@northwindkey That's interesting, I didn't know that about all the behind the scenes stuff in RE4! I just feel that 5's script lacks personality in general, though. It's all just "Let's go here", "Let's do this". There's plenty of action movies that don't have cheesy one liners that still give their characters personality and have good dialogue, so I wish RE5 could be more like that. Or at the very least, more like the RE1 or Code Veronica version of cheesy Chris.
