This is the 2022 version of the Ho Chi Minh City Airport International Transit guide.
Many of you will transfer fer internationally in Ho Chi Minh City (Tan son Nhat,airport )as we resume international travel after the pandemic.
I hope this guide will help you get an idea of your first Ho Chi Minh City connections, or if you have not been to Ho Chi Minh City in a while and are curious about what Tan Son Nhat Airport looks like In 2022.

今ちょうどシドニー空港にいるのですが、ここにも無料シャワーがありますね。 最近増えている気がします。（一定の需要があるのでしょうね） 個人的にタンソンニャットは「乗り継ぎ乗り継ぎ合間に徒歩でも街並み散策ができるところ」と「バスゲート率が高いので飛行機がよく見える」ところが魅力です！

Hello. Would like to ask for connecting flights, will the baggage be transfered from the first flight from vietnam airlines to the 2nd flight from vietnam airlines?

If the first flight and the next flight are on the same Vietnam Airlines, your baggage will be carried through to your destination. However, if you are connecting from an international flight to a domestic flight, you must pick up your baggage at the connecting airport for customs inspection.

konnichiwa your vlog is subarashii (wonderful) from India and also if we have a layover between 2-7 hrs and we have e-visa (single entery) and as well as connecting flights so we need another visa for we can travel saigon at least for hop-in bus tour from India :)

Ho Chi Minh has a lot of tourist spots and bus operators, so I believe you will have a good experience even with a short stay. Have a good trip!

I didn't see any check-in counters in the transit area. There was only a Vietnam Airlines transit counter. However, if you have a mobile boarding pass or self-print boarding pass, I believe you can go directly to the departure area.

同じ航空会社の乗り継ぎで、すでに次の便の搭乗券を持っている場合は、手荷物検査を受けて到着階から出発階にあがるだけなので、とってもシンプルです！

How long did it take for you to go through the entire transit process? Is 1hour 15mins enough?

The airport building in Ho Chi Minh City is not that huge, so if you have two international connecting boarding passes for the same airline and your arrival is on time, you can probably make your connection in 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will most likely be able to skip the security check line if you inform the staff that your flight time is close. However, if you want to avoid the risk of delays, a connection time of at least 2 hours would be desirable.

Where are you flying from and to where? I'm going to be flying with Vietnam Airline from Narita --> Vietnam (one hour layover) --> Malaysia. And because i only have an hour layover and I'm scared I'll miss my next flight :( Was the queue at least fast? Thanks so much!

@@topo4547 hey! Yes, i was able to catch my flight, but i barely made it. My layover was one hour only. Mainly because the initial flight from Narita was delayed by 45mins 😭 by the time i reached ho chih minh, i had like 10mins before they open for boarding. I needed to run actually. The worker who gave me a transit sticker actually said good luck 🤣 but you know what, you have almost 2h layover, so it shouldn’t be a problem

hello, i have a question.. i will have a flight with vietnam airlines and need to layoffer at tan sohn nhat around 6hours before departure to my destination… are the staff might dont let me enter the vietnam too because it might be short layofer?

Thank you for your message. As far as I know, if the layover time will be more than 4 hours, passengers can enter Vietnam, but there’s a risk of not being permitted based on the Immigration Officer's decision.

Hello, I am travelling from Dubai to Sydney, Australia via Ho Chi Minh City. My flight departs from Dubai on Emirates airline to Ho Chi Minh City. However, my flight airline changes to Jetstar (low carrier) at Ho Chi Minh City airport. My layover at Ho chi Minh City airport is 3 hours. Will I need to exit the immigration and collect my baggage and check in again for flight to Sydney? Or is there an internal check in counter for such transfer? Thank you for anyone who can help.

Thank you for your comment. If that's the case, you will have to clear immigration and pick up your checked in luggages. Because the transit counter is not assisting the baggage though service for the connection between Emirates and Jetstar.

@@nabepon Thank you for replying and providing with such information. If I can request the person in charge at the Dubai airport to put the tag directly to Sydney on my baggage. Then, do I need to clear the immigration in order for check-in again for Jetstar airline or I can check-in without entering Vietnam? Could you also provide more information about this transit counter?

If you are taking Vietnam Airlines connecting flights, you don't have to proceed to the immigration. The officer will not let short time transit passengers enter Vietnam. Other low cost carriers may have their own rules, so better to contact airlines support.

@@cskylove That looooooong queue was so annoying because it was to wait the carry on hand luggage security check. There was only one X-ray security machine. So all of the international transit passengers had to wait. If you are going to take Vietnam Airlines, and your ticket is issued as connected flights, you don’t have to pick up your checked baggage.

@@cskylove You can ask staff to skip the queue if the connecting flight will depart soon. (On the other hand, we may have have to give way for those passengers, if we have a longer layover time.)

Since I used the lounge with a "Priority Pass", I did not check the price for walk-in guests. However, the additional guest fee for Priority Pass holders is 35USD, so I would guess that it probably costs about that much.
