If you win the war with Veldlewer and withstand the Amauldi, it's very easy and op to annex the Gekke, Veldlewer and Akino League fairly early on as Freiland, its also very fun!

iirc the original Thrones of Lorraine Mod Dev said that it was supposed to be much earlier than 1836, much like EU4's Ante Bellum mod, but they couldn't figure out how to change the date earlier in development.

I remember at some time the dev(s) of the eu4-vic2 converter mod mentioning its not really possible to set a start date earlier than 1821 because of the vic 2 tech system. However, the dev of the Uncivilized world mod did manage to set the start date to 1803, but I think that was only possible by forcing the entire world to be uncivilized and then had to create a bunch of custom nations to fill out the GP and SP spots.
