To begin with, I applaud your production value, and you have clearly put your heart into paying respect to both franchises. When I saw that glimpse of a death glider, I thought to myself, this is epic! I understood exactly where the plot was going, but I wasn't bored by knowing it. Regretfully, I must take exception to the characterization of both Worf and Sisko. Early on, it is stated that Sisko might have instincts to take on the mothership because he perceives it as a bully. I doubt Sisko would label an unknown entity a bully under these circumstances. A threat, yes. A bully, no. That small insight into his psyche makes a lot of difference. You have done his character a lot of justice by demonstrating his overt courage and aggression when confronted with oppression; his fighting spirit emerges very aggressively when confronted with bullies like the Cardassians, the Dominion, etc. His anger flashes equally with those he perceives as traitors, such as Picard and Eddington. Indeed, he is more flawed in his perception of traitors than he is flawed about perceiving who's the bully in the room (wrong about Picard, and Eddington nearly drove him insane, but he always knew exactly where Weyoun and Dukat were coming from, feel me?). He is also quite the intellectual, and I feel he would understand that raising the Defiant's shields, while completely necessary, might be construed as an act of aggression by the ha'tak. Consequently, he might be less inclined to use force against the portal later on, especially considering that he knows very well that those hails and attempted replies might not be compatible. Also, I find it all too easy for someone to call Worf's logic caveman-like when they didn't offer up a suggestion themselves. The Benjamin Sisko that inspired strength and intelligence in people of color in my childhood neighborhood would probably take another moment before following Worf's suggestion. Having finally witnessed two people of color at the helm of a show (Worf and Sisko), my circle of associates have certainly learned to use force and empathy in equal measure. We have a habit of hoping those we are inspired by will do the same, granted, it doesn't always go down that way. Perhaps this difference in how we perceive a character like Sisko comes from a generational place. I saw DS9 in the late 1990s. The cultural norms of the time shaped how the show was perceived tremendously. The entire run of the show hits differently when one lives through the times in which it is produced versus having seen it later on. This is just a guess on my part. In any case, I'm just somebody looking from the outside in, and I already know that any slights are unintentional. I am impressed with your loyalty to the franchise, and I am grateful that someone out there is making quality films surrounding characters that have been foolishly abandoned by producers these days. The only reason I care enough to provide this level of input is because I can tell you are sincere, and to make something with this level of quality must have required sacrifices on your part that we may never know. Also, caveman or not, Worf's battle instincts have saved, well literally Everyone at some point or another. Good fortune to you.

Very well put together film, very well acted. The most interesting thing about this story is that Keeley is very clearly an officer of the more pacifistic tradition of the TNG era, but come of age and into rank at the cusp of the darker age that DS9 heralds. Seeing those two disparate attitudes thrown into conflict in this story is fascinating, as one can absolutely make the argument that she is naive in her assessment… but one cannot help but feel as though, if the universe were truly more as she wishes it to be, it would be a kinder one. I think a number of the commenters you’ve had seem to be neglecting the fact that this is a story told from a single person’s point of view, a young person at that, and that she lacks the context of who that ship belonged to that a number of commenters have. It’s a very interesting perspective, and it’s always interesting to see people disagreeing with the main characters of the shows.

That doesn't mean I felt good about it. War or not the day you start to feel good about killing your enemy that's when you start to lose your humanity. You can still be relieved to survive the situation And regret what you were forced to do.

This is very well done on so many levels. The technical presentation is very good, as is the story and the acting feels very authentic. You can feel the doubts and frustration of a war veteran who has experienced many useless deaths. The performance has depth and feels natural and real. _If_ the opponents are the Goa'uld like we know them, the actions taken were probably the best option. Defying them is the only thing they will respect. Resulting in even more useless deaths. But Lt Keely can't know this at this moment. @SGUDistantHope, you are asking for details we noticed. At 9:19 the death glider looks completely intact and we can not look inside the cockpit. This may be an artifact or a noticeable detail.

Big respect for Nimran Saund for playing the peace loving Keeley. Of course, we of the audience know who was in the pyramid ship. We know why what happened was the right thing. Sisko and Worf were right. But we also know the Federation ideals. Keely was right, too. This could have been as horrific of an incident as when the 1701-D met the first Borg cube. Family members could have been killed. And then even though that ship was destroyed, the toll on our Fleet heroes would have been worse than what she felt. I do hope that you continue the crosses coming. I think it would be very cool if Marcus’ SG-1 counterpart and Harriman came together, if the Federation discovered the truth about the Gou’ald. If the System Lords tried to invade the Federation at the same time that the UFP was dealing with the Cardassians, maybe the Maquis would have been able to face the likes of Apophis and Ba’al. Anyway, this was a high note, your efforts keep getting better and I think the 543 crew is putting out stories as good as the best other fan film groups, as good as many official episodes. Keep up the good work! Thanks for everything!

Really good one! I hope Keely gets to find out that the pyramid ship would not have been a good ally for the Federation. Hopefully she survives long enough to get used to the idea of either being the wreckage or the one asking what went wrong, but I don't want her to accept it as the only way.

@SGUDistantHopeАй бұрын
I mean, no ships have enough to take on the Borg. The Defiant was designed to be MUCH more manoeuvrable than the Galaxy, which in theory would help it avoid borg fire. In reality the Defiant class against the borg was meant to be used in suqadens...being able to deliver a LOT of fire power really quickly. Removing the quantum torpedos, the Galaxy and Defiant have similar phaser/pulse phaser output, the Galaxy has stronger shields but the Defiant has hull armour and manoeuvrability. So a Ha'tack class mothership with its crew of 2000 Jaffa and maybe a Gu'ould under Lord from the Stargate Universe died in the Star Trek Prime Universe around 2373. That is a headache. The question is, is it one worthy of 1 Captain Janeways is known to have, or is it one of those someone would get from getting a human form replicator hand shoved into their head? Amazing video guys, keep it up the good work. 🖖

Thanks so much! Indeed, it was a test mission Hat'ack sent by Ba'al to go though the anomaly. The first few ships that went though, t he crew died (As seen in Broken Reality) but this was the first test trip where the crew survived. No high ranking officer was aboard, just jaffa. I utilised the same logic as with the Into a Mirror Darkly, that some portals can create breaches in universes which don't align to the same year in that timeline. If it is lets say 2016 in the SG timeline, for that breach it was 2373 as you say. Its all part of a continuing story we have worked out ha! @@SGUDistantHope To be onsite and yes, I know that this is pre-Dominion War Keylly and I do understand where she is coming from, but she's got blinders on, wither it a one-on-one fight or a full scall war. If someone is not talking and is actively hostile and attack you, then you only have two options kill or be killed. Star Fleet personal, apishly SF Captains haves had to take more than one life in their careers. As Section 31 knowns, not everyone holds the same values. (Sorry for the rant, I have to vent with stuff like this.) I all ways thought the tech of the UFP would be more advanced than that of the Goa'uld's of 4000 BCE - 2000 AD (Stargate Movie through SG1 Season 1-4) and Anubis' return in 2001 the G'uld's tech advanced considerably (SG1 Season 5-8)

well of course the Ha'tack class mothership was not going to respond after it's weapon's were down! That to me was painfully obvious. instead they retreated. this would indicate that they didn't arrive here by normal means but by dimensional means, however if I had to guess I'd say that the Goa'uld ship in question was possibly from one of the System Lords. question was, WHO was the lord commanding the Ha'Tack class mothership?

Starfleer Fitness Report: Lt(jg) Anna Keeling. Unfit for continued service on frontline combat starships. Lt Keeling is a competent and proficient officer and helmsman. However, her reluctance and hesitancy to follow orders in the face of an aggressor place not only herself but her entire ship and crew at hazard. Recommend immediate reassignment to rear area starbase or plantside scientific fields or cargo/passenger transport duties among Federation core worlds.

Cheers Samuel! You've made such advances in recent productions. Here is some feedback. DS9 has never looked so beautiful and real. Great job. Lt Keeley is a true find; an excellent actress. I appreciate the less prominent "camera float" ; on some vids, especially when watching on a large screen, it can almost make one seasick. On this video, it was much more subdued and natural, thanks. The backgrounds are GREAT, 99% seamless. As always, sound effects and music on point. Also, I think I detected less "fake film artifacts", which seem to counter the high def video quality, also appreciated. My only criticism is , the "tank slit" filming aspect ratio, which is not what a standard monitor or TV is designed for, but it seems you're devoted to it, I'm sure thinking it looks more cinematic, but for me at least, it just looks like a masked off vid that normally should fill an entire TV screen. Since people rarely watch movies in super wide panoramic 70mm movie cinemas anymore, I think a move to the TV standard, which is still quite wide, much wider than many classic 35mm were filmed in, should be considered. After all, the biggest blockbusters are shown in IMAX, which is much less wide, so I think the standard TV aspect ratio is a great compromise, without shrinking our screens to fit a legacy format they were never meant to display. Overall, VERY GOOD! Thank you and your crew for a lengthy, thoughtful, well produced addition to the lore!

No, Lt. J.G. Anna Keeley, it was not "wrong", it was a self-defense decision with barely seconds to decide. It was also war. In war there is no morality; there is only surrender or survival. If Keely intends to remain in Starfleet, she should remember that freedom is not free; it comes at the greatest of cost; the cost of blood. If you can't handle that reality, Keeley, you might want to do your hand ringing someplace else; not at Starfleet. . . . And for the record, Warf is no primitive, Warf is a warrior!

As far as they know one unknown ship that had no communication with, destroyed 10 ships with little damage and then tried to get away. If they did her way the ship would have gotten away and then they would come back with a Armada to wipe out the entire Alpha and Beta powers

I know you don't have the resources to make this a full 30 minute action episode, but you should have made 4 or 5 10 minute normal episodes, with the action. good story, would have been GREAT if it was a normal episode.
