"American Dog" are called Corn Dogs, here in America, because the tempura-like batter is made of cornmeal. They are typically only eaten at festivals or sport events, or in a school lunch.

Ah, so THAT'S what the Japanese call a corn dog...I always kinda wondered that. I've eaten more than my fair share of them be it at state fairs, festivals, school or just buying a box from the frozen section at the grocery store to have one for a quick lunchtime snack. Gonna wager you can't go any smaller for the "Corndog nuggets"....they are just miniature corndogs not on a stick, A&W Root Beer used to have a bunch of restaurants that served them as a meal with fries and a drink (A&W root beer normally of course).....haven't seen one of those places since the early to mid 90's.
