Yes ! I watched a little bit of the shooting of the movie Susie Wong 's World in Wan Chai . Couldn't get close due to so many peoples at that location so I watching the activities on the front steps of a bar ( if my memory is correct , it was a bar ) a little far away . 👍🏻🙂
Thanks Will again! The post war era of 50's should be the most difficult time for the HK government to rebuild this city. On one hand, there were a massive of refugees influx from mainland China into HK. On the other hand, the government could not easily generated her rapidly and adequate income for their general revenue, wasn't it the case? And it therefore has had a huge of impact for the government in re - allocation of resources for our general public! Again, when I was a small kid in 70's, I was still remember that my parent's conversations in among the Queen Elizabeth 2 Coronation events were taken place at Central and Wan Chai in 1953. Last thing I would like to remind you that the old primary Kai Tak Airport was actually built in 1920's instead of 1958. In 1958 perhaps Kai Tak was extended its longer runway and further developed its facilities or even updated it in a much more sophisticated airport, or there could be the case for maximizing in a relatively more frequent runway , in order to cope with more different Airlines landing, wasn't it?

You sure have a good understanding of the HK government in the 50s. Your parents have a good memory of the Coronation event. Kai TAK WAS BUILT IN 1920S, THE EXTENSION OF THE RUNWAY IN THE 50S.

@@WillsReCollection Certainly, not as much as you do. My parents read some old papers in 1930's. My dad was brought up in HK even before the outbreak of WW2. And my mum was born in 1943. They knew some chapters of old history about HK!

Without Governor Graham probably we have the National Security Law decades before 1997 !

During the double ten riot people think Britain may be giving up Hong Kong and this is also the time where decolonization of many countries under European power took place. Governor Graham stood firm in insisted that Hong Kong must remain a British colony. If we do not have Governor Graham the newly founded People's Republic of China will immediate jumped in and all the many revolution madness will take place and many revolts will occur in Hong Kong. this will consequently lead to the implementation of the National Security Law of whatever the content to suit the then political environment.

Should be "Governor Grantham", Sir Alexander Grantham, the 22nd Governor of HK (July 1947 - Dec 1957).
多謝你嘅珍貴分享, 你嘅經歷屬於口述歷史, Very interesting. 好難得. 👍50年代係指1951至1960, 所以蘇施黃的世界也算係50年代的事件吧☺

@@WillsReCollection 小弟無意在此挑戰閣下對於「50年代」的含義, 惟根據【維基百科】解釋 :「1950s」was a decade that began on January 1, 1950, and ended on December 31, 1959. 講返「50年代」電影, 我反而更欣賞1955年11月5日在香港「樂聲戲院」首映的《生死戀》Love is a Many Splendored Thing, 該電影男主角也是威廉•荷頓, 而女主角則換上珍妮花•鍾絲。
Nancy Kwan is so beautiful but this movie was highly criticized by the local in those days for stereotyping young Asian women as prostitute by Hollywood.

I love Nancy Kwan. She looked a bit like Natalie Wood when both were young.
Not cohesive at all . Why no Yau Ma Tei Ferry incident and Typhoon Wan Toa

They were ranked in accordance to my preference, not by time sequence,. I can't recall what YMT incident was .Typhoon Wanda is mentioned in the clip. Thanks ☺
