Had a ranger with the 2.3 5-speed, had 330,000 kms on it. Slow as fuck, didn't have the money nor mechnanical know-how on how to fix all the parts that were broken, but goddamn I want another one. That truck was tough, dependable and I could move anything i wanted with it.

There is two types of rangers, shitbox rangers, 4 cyl, single cab, 2wd, 300 k and somehow still kickin, and then you have the decently cool rangers, extended cab, 4wd, 4.0 v6, and a few mods can make a decent cheap little rig

I had one like that a 97 but automatic with the 4.0 V6 ohv. I still have it runs great. But I got another one but a 4x4!!!!!! Night and day difference 10 times better and goes through hella shit unlike my 2wd that got stuck in wet grass seriously. And it sits 3 inches higher looks way cooler has big tires and a limited slip rear diff.

I feel your pain. Many years ago before you were born I bought a new 1995 Ford Ranger. It was navy blue and had an extended cab. It got good mileage and the kids were little at the time so they fit in the jump seats in the extended cab just fine. When I was a teenager the joke was FORD, Fix Or Repair Daily or Found On Road Dead. I really didn't get it, because my prior Ford was a 1966 Mustang with over 200,000 miles on the odometer, excellent vehicle. The Ranger was a lemon at best. The fuel pump died with less than 20,000 miles on it while I was on a road trip in Lubbock. By the time I got rid of it, I had 70,000 miles on it. I replaced the radiator twice due to a design flaw in the radiators used back then. The A/C system leaked due to a design flaw and I was constantly trying to fix the leaks, never was able to fix it so I wasted a lot of freon. Interesting note, my next truck was a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with a hemi and an extended cab. Great truck but got rid of it due to the gas expense from my 50 mile daily round trip commute to work.

300k+ 95 ranger, 2wd, 17" arelli wheels, step bed, has never left me stranded, have hauled 2600lbs of pavers with no issues even over a bridge, and i have 2 amps, 2 9" midbass, and a 12" cerwin vega stroker behind the seats. Well kind of, the subs motor pokes out between the seats. Love it and wouldnt buy any other truck.

Have one. Pretty slow but with Royal Purple seems to have a bit more kick in the ass. At least that is what I have experienced. Holds the speed limit, +5-10 mph, decent enough. Still 20 mpg though no matter what I do.
