Spoilers for the manga, I shouldn’t need to put a spoiler alert, but some dumbass that’s only watched the anime is gonna get mad because I didn’t add one Because of the amount of change Phos goes through Phos at the beginning of the story and Phos at the end of the story are fundamentally two completely different characters. As Phos loses more of him self he loses more and more memories. By the time Phos goes to the moon the only part of Phos that’s still Phos is the torso. After going to earth to talk to Kongo he gets cut in half. After being rebuilt by Kongo it’s safe to assume that not even 25% of Phos is made of Phosphophyllite. That would mean that at this point Phos has lost roughly 75% of his memories. So that would mean the main thing he remembers is the 220 years his body was left separated and scattered around the island (if I remember correctly he was conscious the entire time) When he went to the moon Phos was roughly 405 years old, however he was only conscious for around 303 of those years. So Phos lost roughly 75% of the memories associated with those 305 years and then spent 220 years split apart, hidden, and forgotten about. That’s close to half of the amount of time he’s been conscious for. So it would make sense that Phos would be insane and bent on revenge after being rebuilt, dude forgot most of the 300 years he was alive, and was then forced to spend around the same amount of time alone and suffering
