For English comments who don't know the lyrics, the song is called Failure Girl. And now, onto my own little thanks. Spoilers for all of Kagerou Project (manga, music, anime, light novels, etc.):This pretty much just depicts Ayano and Mary's struggles in a nutshell. That alone is pretty obvious, but there's a lot of subtle details in here that makes me really want to thank the movie creator. The last few sequences in particular tell me how much work they had put in. Anyone who knows the general story of Kagepro knows most of the story. Ayano kills herself in order to save the Mekakushi Trio (her family) and Mary but gets stuck in the Kagerou Daze as a result (and purposefully so). After the death of pretty much everyone, Mary will reset the world for the endless loop to begin once again. However, the last minute tells a lot about the story from the light novel(?) perspective. Starting at 2:18, we see Ayano still alive while Mary is awakened (for a lack of a better term). Mary is comforting Ayano because she (and a couple others) are the only ones left alive although they did defeat the Snake of Clearing Eyes. Ayano holds the knife, not because she's ready to kill Mary but rather because she's going to sacrifice herself one more time (plot twist, not the last time). To become the Snake of Retaining eyes. Ayano in the next few sequences pretty much tells us a lot about Mary's view about her. Kind, able to keep a secret, essentially a cinnamon roll. When Mary resets the world and sees Ayano again in the flesh, Mary follows her again. The thing is, this is an essential win for the Snake of Clearing Eyes once more. Why? All he wants to do is keep on living. One more reset and the reset where he was defeated makes him believe that there will be no more chances because as long as the Snake of Clearing Eyes kills a member of the Mekakushi-dan, Mary will reset the world regardless if he was defeated. Now, Failure Girl is a song that is weirdly exceptionally well for this song. Mary and Ayano sort of represent the two sides of the coin. Ayano drives everything inwards and forces herself to take upon the brunt of the force but Mary drives everything outwards and runs away from the pain (which mirrors the parts of the song about smiling naturally, people telling her she's a mistake and that she's bad for the former while the parts of outward expression, hoping things will get better without much effort for the latter). Regardless, both of them were necessary in order to end the endless loop because both of them had to band together to create the ultimate solution: The Snake of Retaining Eyes. Failure Girl is a good song because it represents the struggle up to the final battle. Sacrifice after sacrifice was made and that's because they both, and arguably just Ayano, failed. And that's what makes Kagerou Project such a good story for a lot of people. It's a story about struggling against every odd stacked up against you, failing every single time, but eventually succeeding due to learning everything.

@@plain7439 Ayano saved the trio in many ways. Other than the manga route, Ayano killed herself so that one of the snakes would be trapped inside of the Kagerou Daze. And if I recall correctly, other than the True Route (I think Mekakucity Actors), there was no timeline where all of the trio was alive. So by going through each iteration over and over, she eventually saved the Mekakushi Trio.

I think it was the novel where it was revealed that it was revealed that Ayano had killed herself so that Mary could make her into a new Snake since the Snake of Retaining Eyes did not exist at that point. So yes, it is Shintaro's Snake but it is literally Ayano.

(SPOILERS FOR MANGA,NOVELS, ANYTHING WITH KAGEROU DAZE) hi okay so this according to me, is about the manga 2 , in which Ayano is alive, she and shintaro did not know each other and Mary was brought to the tateyama family by seto when they pretty young when he ran away in the forest. Ayano’s mom Ayaka was researching about the Medusa so that she could help kido,kano and Seto and she realised that Mary was a descendant of the Medusa because of her pink eyes. So they (Ayako ans Ayano) asked Mary if she would take them to her house in the forest so that they can investigate more. Mary was willing to and they set the date for August 15th. (Only Ayako, kenjirou(ayano’s dad), Ayano and Mary went and the other three were left at home) Somewhere in the way there was a landslide and Ayano and her parents died and went to the kagerou daze where ayano was tortured with Azami’s memories which kept replaying until she broke and was thrown back to earth with the snake ability. - favouring eyes which would allow her to project her emotions,memories to other people. Mary (as she is immortal) survived and Ayana finally realised that for the others to be safe Mary was to be eliminated as she could later on be used to make “the Medusa” which would mean for all Kano,kido and seto and who ever else possessed the snake ability to die and give up their snake abilities. (So that’s ur backstory) An angry Ayano told Mary “I wish you’d never met us” and the video starts from there it’s raining and Mary is on the ground apologising to Ayano as she does not know what she has done. We cut to the present 0:27 in which kido,Kano,seto and Mary moved out from the tateyama family because of Ayano said ( 0:33 are some flash backs) and they all loose contact. then at 0:31 ayano finally meets kano who in a resentful way says “oh so ur alive” and gives her the news that the clearing eyes snake had killed Kido. Ayano was with shintaro at the time (who she just met and was somewhat trying to explain the situation to him) and after hearing that news she breaks down ( 0:41 ) later on shintaro goes to Ayano’s house and she explains her relationship with her “step” siblings. ( 0:47 is kido’s grave) Ayano tried to get hold of people with the eye ability so she could maybe save them and also some how find her siblings who moved out.She starts making friends which explains her interacting with konoha at 1:05 . (I’m not saying she was just using them no not at all) We cut to Mary’s perspective who somewhat thinks it’s her fault and that because of her the family broke ( 1:21 ) 1:24 seto tells her it isn’t her fault , she studies about the Medusa and breaks down even more when konoha brings kido’s body ( 1:34 ) 1:48 th songs line matches really well “why was I even born in the first place” as the people like momo,kido, konoha,hibiya die she asks herself this says she just wanted to have friends. We cut to the end 2:25 which is after the battle is over, the clearing eyes gets sucked up by the kagerou daze but everyone except Ayano,Mary and shintaro die and Mary comforts Ayano. At 2:59 ayano picks up the knife to sacrifice herself again, and tells Marie to convert into a snake power ( 3:13 ) which would go to shintaro in the coming timelines as the power to collect memories and tells mary to reset the world so they can fight again. This tells us that manga 2 is one of the earliest timelines. This concludes the whole manga 2 :) hope this was helpful (?) hopefully I didn’t confuse even more lol, correct me if I’m wrong !
