9:43 - 10:10 The trainer talked about the benefits of adopting a dog from a shelter and encouraged people to do so. I totally agree! 😄 I don't know how much dog breeders charge in Taiwan, but in the U.S., dog breeders often charge $5000 USD or more for a purebred dog. Moreover, pets purchased from pet stores almost always come from confined, small, filthy breeding facilities with little to no veterinary care. On the other hand, dogs adopted from shelters will cost much less - usually no more than $500 USD - and will be up to date on the latest vaccination and health records, or even spayed/neutered. Moreover, many shelter dogs are more mature, have calmer temperament and have already been potty trained. So, adopting a dog from a shelter (1) helps to reduce cruel animal breeding, (2) gives a sheltered dog a second chance, (3) means that the owner gets a more mature dog, and (5) is more cost effective - and these are just _some_ of the benefits of adopting a pet from a shelter. 😄
