Wearing masks is part of Riot Blue's concept. While we are Vtubers, we also express ourselves using our physical bodies. We believe that the face is a part of the body where the entirety of a person is condensed. By concealing it, we think the body can be symbolized. This allows for the unification of our Vtuber personas and our actual physical forms.
