The oldest extant corroborations of this period, besides the testimony found in Chronicles and Kings, include the aforementioned Assyrian stele inscription discovered in ancient Assyria in addition to the intriguing stele found in Jordan. The Mesha Stele, housed in the Louvre, is a three-foot-tall, smoothed block of basalt stone. It contains the longest Iron Age inscription ever found. It was written using the Hebrew alphabet in the Moabite dialect of the language in the 9th century BCE. The history depicted in the inscription parallels the account detailed in the Book of Kings.
