His creativity on both improvisation and accompaniment, he gives spatiality to the Band and to the music and this is what a drummer has to do especially in this musical genre in my opinion, it is very important. Dynamic, flow, he has everything ⭐️⭐️

For me, one of the things that characterizes Thomas Pridgen playing drums is his flow, expressiveness, body movement, etc. You can mute the sound and still enjoy watching Thomas play because he has a strong visual part... I don’t know how to explain it exactly

A contradiction of feelings is created when Thomas completely dissolves in the music, but at the same time has absolute control over the game!
@halloola36364 ай бұрын
No contradiction at all! It´s called "flow"! The way we actually function may be different from what most people think and are taught, but "flow" will teach you that you have most control when you simply only "perceive". I´ve had the experience of listening to myself. But to get there you have to practise a lot - so much that the mind gives up its need to "control" stuff and steps aside. Afterwards reflexion and meditation might tell you that the mind itself is but a pattern of reactions. When you focus on perception the mind dissolves and everything just comes out naturally...

I love Thomas, my only critic is about he cant chill a bit, when the other guys playing solos, he plays too much and a excesive loud volume to me.
@jonnyjibjob65194 ай бұрын
The worst mistake the mars volta ever made was getting rid of Thomas!!!! Now they have some chick just ruining the vibe/power of their live shows..pridgeon is a beast and she's a baby kitten in comparison..my favorite band who I don't listen to anymore 🤬😥

Couldn’t imagine replacing Thomas with a woman lol. Zero chance she’ll ever match his intensity or physicality.

Sax needs to be higher up in the mix. Almost sounds like he's in an adjacent room. Edit: Those saying the sax is fine, might be listening in mono (phone for instance) instead of stereo. Because the sax is panned to the right (keys to the left) there's a substantial difference in volume between stereo and mono. I've ran the audio through VoiceMeeter which allows you to easily switch between stereo/mono/reversed stereo, which clearly shows how bad the mix really is.

@@evanpragliola4947 If the answer to pretty much anything is: "It's not that bad". I wouldn't be too happy about that. Nothing wrong with my setup. Listened to some music that I know very well and sounds the way it should (and as I'm familiar with). Using a Focusrite audio interface and Beyerdynamics DT770 pro headphones (250 Ohm version).

@@msperc Nothing wrong with my ears. Actually had them tested not too long ago. 07:17 - the sax just gets drowned by the keyboards.
@msperc4 ай бұрын
Well perhaps u have a problem in hearing certain frequencies. If anything the bass is lower in the mix & a bit muddled. The sax could be more upfront, however, can still be heard. I know TP plays busy & loud, if u will. In fact, I’ve know him since he was 8. I used to mentor him at NAMN & over the phone.
