Probably rip in half, like the Titanic did. Or his hands would puncture it. Or it would simply bury his feet in the ground as he tries to lift it. Things like that. John Byrne got around that with Superman by concocting a "bio-electic tactile telekinetic" field around Superman. In Norse mythology, there was a mistake in the creation of Mjolnir (Loki's fault) that made the hilt too short. It was supposed to be two handed. And Thor is insanely strong in mythology. It took 9 giants to lift it. On a separate occasion, it took both of his sons to lift it, one of which was the God of Strength. On top of that, Thor has a belt that doubles his strength anyway, so weight really isn't a problem for him, and the handle wasn't intentionally designed like that.

@@dominusfornax It's possible. Something the Silver Surfer definitely said, several times, was, "To me, my board!", so it might have been that. It doesn't help that the mechanism of the hammer's return, and Thor's control over it, hasn't been consistent. Once, in orbit in space, it missed him because he wasn't in the same place he'd thrown it, so it's treated as a boomerang, or Cap's shield. And if it's manoeuvrable because Thor can manipulate air with it (my theory), instead of 'pulling him off', how does that work in space?

So it has to be much hotter to make the hammer than it does to repair the hammer, I can fix a cast iron with a arc welder but it will not be the same temperature as when it was made. Also the comic you are referencing is from 1965, and implies than there was some god like tampering with the repair process as the hammer was fixed in an hour and the workers of the mill said that it would’ve taken them months to do the same thing.

@@windhelmguard5295 actually there is. In the comics Thore states "one must have a pure heart and a Nobel mind" (I.e what Odin considers worthy) This was spoken when Cap first lifted the hammer and I believe superman could also (with Odin's permission). In current continuity the Hammer told Jane that it chose her because of her strong heart being stronger than thunder. E.g. the saying: do I choose my head or heart to do the right thing. To hold the hammer you need to have the spirit of the warrior and clear intention. In the MCU it's a bit different. Nothing is specifically said. But their is a clear patter. To hold it you must judge yourself if you have dbout your not worthy E.g. Thore had to learn humility and understand the choice not to always fight first, Cap had a good heart and knowing he could life it chose not to. Vision was pure of mind but again didn't want to fight/to avoid fighting. Shad, what if the the War Mallet was made of wood, but with layers of metal nailed into it, so you keep it reasonably light to swing, but not cuttable or flammable? It might be good for disabling opponents without necessarily killing them, which I imagine a fantasy fighter may be interested in.

In the mythology, Mjölnir was actually supposed to have the proportions of a Maul, but Loki disturbed the blacksmith dwarf when he was making the shaft, hoping to ruin the weapon. So Mjölnir actually ended up with a shorter shaft but its magical properties where so great that the gods didn't care : Mjölnir was the closest thing to a nuke in a world of melee weapons. Edit : aaaaand at least 10 people already mentionned that in the comments.

Mjlonir’s enchantment of only being used by the worthy and I thought I can control it is used much more in the comics. The absorbing man who can take on the characteristics of anything he touches did that to try and match the war he turned his body into essentially millionaire and Thor was able to telepathically control him once he did was very entertaining.

I feel like a point that does even more for Thor's weapon choices is his ability to fly. He can produce force without anything to push off against, he can "fly" in place to give more force to his swings

@Карасик Ерохин spoilers nah nah fam, as Odin said, the hammer was to serve as a focus or conduit of sorts to focus Thor's power, not as a source for it. The hammer actually draws power *from* Thor. We even see him use lightning and thunder without Mjolnir in Ragnarok. Okay, so here's how it works: Hammer = focus for Thor's powers, not source Enchantment = one must be worthy to wield Mjolnir, not only Thor. Thor is even unworthy of Mjolnir in the first Thor movie. Capt. uses Mjolnir plus lightning powers = that's because, "if he be worthy, he shall posses the power of Thor" note, "*power of Thor*", not "*power of Mjolnir*." Mjolnir doesn't hold the power, Thor does. Just so happens that Mjolnir can let its worthy wielder use Thor's power. This is convoluted, I know :'/ Hopefully, someone can make my explanation clearer and more understandable X'P
@ChaoswithFries

@Карасик Ерохин I am not saying that he draws his power from it. It allows him much more control of his power.

@Карасик Ерохин Thor was born the god of thunder, so he had the zappies from birth. He just didn't know how to channel it until Ragnarok, so he needed Mjolnir to focus it. At least that's what I remember.

@Pro Semite I’m no weapons expert so I can’t call your statement inaccurate but at the same time I don’t know your credentials so I can’t confirm what you’re saying either but do remember the shorter handle is by mistake so the hammer is already weighted to having a longer handle it just doesn’t have it.

@Pro Semite I don’t see the problem, are referring to it not being historically accurate? I don’t think that would matter when the one wielding the hammer is someone capable of in certain iterations holding up part of Manhattan.

Shad your innuendos are legendary. Also you look great lately! I can only assume the surgery you had done has something to do with your palpable virility and vigor. At 2k comments I doubt you'll see this but if you do I'm curious to know if I'm correct in that assumption. I just remember seeing how badly you wanted to be able to be there for your family and not be wiped out all the time. It was really inspiring in a way - you didn't give a damn about what you personally were missing out on - you just wanted to be at your best for your family and you didn't want to lose any more time with them to fatigue. As someone who suffers from chronic fatigue it meant a lot to know I wasn't alone. Anyways enough mushy rambling - ya look and sound like a million bucks these days!
