I just finished reading Rule of Wolves yesterday and honestly, they did so well in casting the Darkling I'm worried they won't be able to do team Nikolai justice. Still hopeful tho.

Its nice that ben barnes at least tries to understand the darkling even though he did terrible things. To me thats a sign of a good actor, being able to play the villan with the understanding of the person. You know where all humans and the evil inside us always has a story. They say the best villans have the best backstory and if an actor can understand that AND act like it thats the best thing

I am ashamed to say that as soon as we saw the Darkling for the first time, I said out loud 'too old'. Within a minute, I had had a stern word with myself and realised how perfect Ben Barnes is for this role. It also helps that he is absolutely beautiful. Sigh.

I'm glad that the show adress the representation of ethnocultural diversity because it's usually so erased or done in a prejudicial way in fantasy and other genras. Even if it's not a perfect depiction of struggles of minorities, I think it's a good acknowledgement along the way of the next more inclusive poc driven narratives. It's so fun to be on set playing all together and getting to learn about each other too. I've been casted in the past to portray some complex and ambiguous characters in LARPs and I'm glad that Ben Barnes acting helps me gain confidence and tips of how to challenge racism in those kind of representations.
