one thing i never understood: the darkling has hundreds of years or he manipulated everyone in ravka to believe that the fold existed for hundreds of years? because if he is really old how did he stayed young and how his mother is still alive?

He is hundreds of years old. Grisha in general usually have longer lives, the stronger the grisha, the longer the life. And he and his mother were very powerful, being shadow summoners and all that, and human amplifiers, which amplified their powers even more. But especially, leigh wanted the old man/young girl thing that is so common in fantasy.
