This was a really cool concept - cosmic clones in Odyssey from Super Mario Galaxy 2 and 3D Land! They definitely add a lot more difficulty and a rushed sense in the game lol

It seemed like you were breaking the bossfight with bowser by having the shadowclones attack him. So essentially it would seem they deal too much damage & cause the game to not register you loosing bowsers hat properly. As it always happened when you hit him into the clones. Also you could try to keep a clone between you & Bowser to avoid getting hit.
