As someone who has worked retail and researched into these topics: Companies not only won't lower wages/hours or fire employees over theft for financial reasons, they are highly legally regulated from being able to do exactly that (it is one of the _only_ worker rights that is actively enforced). Not to mention that companies such as Walmart, Kroger, Target, etc. can be stolen from because they themselves steal from both employees (low wages, unfair work expectations/conditions, adversarial environments...) and customers (significantly overcharging for lower quality products/services), meaning ethically/morally you are in the clear. Ya know, _if_ you were to allegedly do that.
