I know I'm many years late but I decided to play this game again and I remember how much of a pain this boss was in the hard time attack. I spent all day tying to get it with no luck. I was distraught and frustrated thinking that I would never get this done. The next day though I decided to try again and not give up until I got it done. I completed it on the first attempt with a total time of 3:55:19, I was so happy. I want to thank you for this video cause it really helped.

Your method to jumping to the stomach helped me the best. Thank you a million times!! This fucking colossi took me five straight hours and god knows how many retries of trial and error. Either I ran out of time or mis-timed a jump. I did the arm shake method twice, stayed at the bottom instead of going around, stabbed him 3 times in the middle then jumped back to his arm before he shook and repeated. Did the arm shake twice for the head until it was gone and then another arm shake for the last.

bro, I love you... no homo... I spent 4+ hours on this. This is the best guide of them all. The sword Jump was easy enough to master as opposed to the other more difficult moves the other videos have.

Bluepoint ruined this game by messing with Wander's stability when holding on to a colossus. It was perfectly fine in the original and there was no reason whatsoever to alter it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

Sword jump directly to the gauntlet instead of his belt. Go to the shoulder of the colossus and hold onto it. Move around a bit and then hold again. He should start reaching down. Stab 3-4 times and do the shoulder trick again. Take out first symbol. Return to shoulder and use the trick to take out the left arm. Return to shoulder and use shoulder trick. Drop down to the belt and then stab 3-4 while he is bent over. Then you should only need 1-2 more stabs to finish him off. Hope that helps.

Oh my god I did it!!!!!!! I never thought something that gave me SO much frustration could also eventually give me so much elation. I NEVER in my wildest dreams thought I could do it. I've lost count how many tries it took me, it must have been well over 200...Everyone saying how much harder this particular time attack was on PS3...one of the hardest most challenging thing in video game history. I am so proud. =D I'm not a hardcore gamer, in fact far from it. I'm a pretty novice player compared to most. And I've only been playing SotC for a few months! I've still got to do #4, #6, #12, #13, and #15 on hard mode time attack. But I now feel like I can do anything when I put my mind to it. I feel so accomplished. :')

I hope I get to feel that way too. I have tried well over 100 times to kill Gaius in Hard Time Attack mode. I have come close so many times. Hopefully I can do it before "The Last Guardian" gets released on October 25. Have you obtained all the trophies in the ICO/Shadow Of The Colossus HD collection?

You can do it! :) Just keep trying, don't give up! I also had big trouble with Argus, it took me almost as many times as Gaius. I've still got to get a few more trophies for SotC; Cornucopia, Endangered Lizards, Max out Stamina and Health Bar, Hang Glider and Slippery Fish. I attempted the Lizards one a while ago, but that one is so time consuming and having to make sure I've killed each lizard is a pain. I haven't played the game in a while, as I felt a little burned out on it but I will get all the trophies eventually! I did start to play ICO, but haven't gotten very far. I'm really looking forward to The Last Guardian. =D

TWandAnimalLover I just finished ICO in 2 hours & 59 minutes. So I did earn a trophy for beating the game in under 4 hours. However, I don't see any way I can possibly beat the game in under 2 hours. As it was, I skipped over every cut scene that I was able to skip, but it still took me 3 hours, minus the 1 minute. As far as Gaius is concerned, I know I will take him out eventually. And I am also looking forward to "The Last Guardian". Actually, that's an understatement. I have never anticipated a video game more than I have "The Last Guardian. It will be an exciting & emotional journey. And I'm ready for it!!!

Well done! I don't think I don't think I like ICO as much as SotC, but I'll definitely try to continue to play through it. I've finally got the Endangered Lizards trophy on SotC, so now I've only got to get Cornucopia, Agro Circus, Slippery Ride, Hang Glider and the trophy to say you've got all other trophies. =D I'm so ready for The Last Guardian too, I'm just glad I didn't know anything about it when it was first announced, I would have hated waiting that long for a game! I only discovered SotC through other let's plays on youtube last year and it took me forever to eventually buy myself a PS3 and a copy of the game lol.

TWandAnimalLover You shouldn't have much trouble getting the rest of those. Beating Gaius is the hardest trophy to obtain, so everything else should be much less difficult. Less than two months to go for The Last Guardian!!!

Just so everyone knows, this colossus isn't actually this hard in the original PS2 version. For some reason, Wander shakes MUCH more in the HD version on this colossus, making it impossible to get this time attack done using the normal way. You have to use the sword jump or it's impossible

If you guys are having trouble with the middle sigil, try sword jumping to his arm instead. Once you begin climbing his arm he'll lean forward allowing you to drop down and jump to the middle easily. You should be able to get at least 2 fully charged stabs on the sigil this way..3 if you get there quick enough.

I knew it, I'm not the only one that's going crazy here. I don't know why but this version of the game is more difficult for some reason. I got most of the time attacks on hard down except of 3 and 15, but this 3rd colossus is a pain in the ass.

this and the gorilla hard time attack (ps3) is the hardest challenge I have ever faced in the history of games. I was so frusterated I almost roundhouse kicked my plasma tv. I'd happily pay for someone to do those two time attacks for me. Those two bastards are the only thing stopping me from getting the last trophy

StarFoxy778 you're almost there you might as well keep going. Trying to get that point on the gorilla's chest is damn near impossible, you keep falling. Falling is so gutting because it takes about 2 minutes to get back up there again.

blood and silver Yeah That Chest Vital Makes Everyone Lose Their Sanity. The Best Strategy I Found For Him Was To Go For His Head First. If You Use The Sweet Spot On His Head, You Can Get That One Done Fairly Quickly. Then Go Get Rid Of His Sword. Climb Back Up, And Believe It Or Not, There IS A Spot Where You Can Regain Stamina Without Being Bothered By His Sassy Walk And Constant Shaking. After You Regain Stamina, Go For His Chest Vital And Get As Many Quarter Stabs As You Can. Getting Full And Half Stabs Is Impossible. If You Fall, You Can Go Ahead And Get Rid Of His Palm Vital. Then You Have The Rest Of The Time Attack To Worry About His Chest. It's Frustrating, I Know, But He IS Do-Able. Just Try To Restrain From Throwing Your Controller Across The Room, And You'll Be Fine.

"Hardest" is right. Finally beat Gaius after a straight 10 hours of trying. The trick I used was to sword jump onto his bracelet, then duke him out by hopping up the second "step" of the bracelet. He'll bend down for a little while, which let me get off plenty of full stabs on his stomach.

I'm able to replicate everything you've done here except when getting uninterrupted hits on the head. It's very hard to get consecutive hits done to the head. Any advice? The head now consumes most of my time. Also how can I prevent getting shaken off when I'm at the final symbol on his arm? There isn't many places to recuperate for stamina on his arm.

Look-I did it from the 7-9 try, the sword jump was easy for me.If you dont want to get interupted, you have to sit on his right shoulder.When he starts moving his right arm, quickly go to his head (you may get interupted the first time but then you have like 3-4 full charges)Do it again with the vital point on the left arm. And the funny thing about his belly is - you have to stab the upper part of the vital point - there is 90 % less disturbance ...

.....I give up on this dude. This is a great guide though. I've tried your method, but it doesn't quite work for me. I've tried many different methods and am getting better at the sword jump technique, but no matter what I do, I never leave myself enough time for the last sigil. I do like to do the stomach one first, and while I've managed to get two/three free stabs in, I take far too much time finishing it off. Likewise, if I do it in good time and do his head next, I take far too much time on that. I like to do the arm last, as I find it awkward trying to climb back up it. I do find the head the toughest to do. Though a few of my tries yesterday I got lucky and got quite a few free stabs in the head, but then fucked up the rest of it. Then there were a couple of tries where I was so close to finishing, got two sigils done with over a minute to spare, and when I went to go to the arm, I fell off. =( I'll keep at it, but maybe take a break. I've still got 5 other Colossi to do on hard mode time attack, including Argus. It's stupid really, 3rd Colossi is impossible. Meanwhile, Malus, the 16th Colossi, I did on my first try. How?!!!

Aye man I just completed Gaius with 1 second left and what really made a difference is when I initiate a stab I ensure to press and hold the square button it speeds up the stamina circle gauge by 25% so getting full circle hits were almost instantaneous

Is this really that hard? I mean I loved the game back in the day but I was 13 and didn't care about TA stuff. I'm thinking of buying it again just to enjoy it again, and then plat it. People are acting like this is one of the hardest things *ever* on PS3. I don't know though, I've platted Gran Turismo 5, Catherine, Demon's Souls, Mirror's Edge, Killzone 2, 3D Dot Game Heroes and a bunch of other "ridiculous" plats, and have superhuman patience because of it. This doesn't seem *that* rough.

Hey man, I don't mean to bash on you but you must be a new player to this. Hold the attack button until the ring reaches the edges of the circle to hit a critical. You keep 1/4th charging your attack so it is taking MUCH longer. Each weak point should only take 3 or 4 (not usually) full charges and youre doing more like 6 to 7 which is unnecessary.
