Hello, love your content as someone who knows nothing of music terminology but loves music, the insights you provide are amazing and honestly help personify feelings about the music I don't know how to articulate. So yes, amazing. Second I have a request, for a little known boss theme from an indie game called thymesia. The odur boss theme is amazing and captures a sort of haunting classical/baroque feel. You could explain it better I'm sure, just a suggestion, once again awesome vid

Goosebumps at the first notes. I can't put into words the nostalgia and bittersweet feelings I connect with this game. I don't think I had ever been affected by the game as I was when I played it for the first time. As for the flute. I personally interpret it as the girl, trying to reach Wander, trying to stop him. More and more in that in-between scene after you kill a colossus and before you wake up at the temple, you can hear a female voice calling out.

Thank you for this, I have such a powerful love for SoTC. The entire soundtrack is gorgeous, but I would specifically love to hear your analysis of 'A Despair-Filled Farewell.' It starts off tense with lots of quick up and down notes, but then transitions into a sombre dance of strings and vocals taking turns in the spotlight, then pulling together for a beautiful harmonious climax, all with the sheer amount of percussion creating continuous roar throughout the track. Something I also noticed about all of the combat tracks is that each section of the songs always come in two's, which creates a unique composition that I can't recall noticing elsewhere.

Brilliant video, as always! This is very nostalgic for me, it’s not a feeling of coming home, but a feeling of indescribable pain and sadness. I remember how this music made me drawn into the world-building of the game. It starts off so mysteriously and delicately yet powerfully somehow, as if it resonates beyond eternal time and try to touch your soul. So ethereal and fits the game so perfectly, that it almost feels like this music is played by the unique and beautiful aura of the game itself. I’m just in awe of it. Thank you for this, Davi!

SotC was one of the games I played the most during my childhood, 100% on ps2, every day after school I played at least 2 hours exploring the map and going after the various mysteries that surrounded the game. When I heard about the remake, I was very excited. The quality of the game is incredible! Last week I was playing again and I thought of a possible video of yours about "the opened way" soundtrack. Funny how a video of this game came out about it. I can't see your react at the moment, but I'll be back to comment on it.

I remember what a challenge it was getting that Queen's Sword on the PS2 & especially PS3. All because of colossus 3 in Hard Time Attack mode where you only got 5 minutes to beat him. Thankfully we're given 6 minutes & 30 seconds on the PS4 remake. But funny story...I purchased the game day 1 for PS2 & my plan was to play it for about 3 hours that evening, watch the late night news & then go to sleep. I was still on the game when the sun rose the next morning. XD

Davi i highly recommend you do play the Remake. The Remake was done by Bluepoint Games who also did the Demon's Souls. But Shadows of the Colossus was their first major project that they made. Before they did the remake of Shadows of the Colossus they mostly did remastered ports of Play Station games into new consoles like Ico and Shadows of the Colossus on the ps3, The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, God of War Collection, and Gravity Rush (Remastered). But if you're curious to know what's the major difference between the original and the remake is mostly Graphical difference and collectibles and challenges for competitions. It's honestly omnipresent of how the Remake looks. Every hill across the world, every lush forest, and especially the Colossi have been fully remade from scratch. Seriously you're probably gonna spend more time exploring the world and seeing how beautiful it looks while taking a few screen shots of them as well. Really the only they didn't change in the remake is the music. They just ported the original soundtrack into the remake and it still sounds amazing in the remake.

DAVI! I get excited everytime I see you’ve uploaded a new video. Shadow of the Colossus is such a powerful game. It really goes to show that you can have an emotional and powerful story without hours of dialogue. So much can be told through action and music. I like how, since this is the intro sequence, it ends on the happy/tense “not quite home chord” because it really sets the tone that just because he made it to the temple doesn’t mean he has succeeded. A big step was completed but there are still many challenges ahead so it leaves you with the hopefulness of having completed a big still but the uneasiness of not knowing what is to come. And i feel that is the perfect tone for the start of the game.

Oh my god I didn't expect Shadow of the Colossus appearing here... Thank you, even though I wasnt lucky to play it on PS2 when it released, I played the remake and it instantly became one of my favorite games of all time. I hope you will be analysing more tracks from it, the one from the end of the game and personally I especially love Avion (the flying colossus, I think he was fifth or fourth) theme, because it was one of the most insane bosses, even so many years later, being able to fly a giant, in the rain to that music... I am shocked that something so beautiful was made such a long time ago and it still made my jaw drop, despite so many releases and games over the years that I played. Due to the music and story of it I tear up by just thinking about this game...

The CD soundtrack to "Shadow Of The Colossus: Roar Of The Earth" by Kow Otani, has remained in print ever since it's initial release in 2005. Quite possibly that's the longest ever a game soundtrack has remained in continuos production. Most game soundtracks get one production run & that's it unless it's something very popular then it might stay in production for a few years. But in this case we are talking 18 years & counting. That really says something.

But I never had the capability to make my own stuff real, Im still at the beginning of my journey towards the greater goals. But something I must thank you for specifically, is that watching your videos finally gave me someone who felt the same way about game music, and didnt just say "game themes aren't music". Hello Davi Vasc! I came up with a suggestion, its from a cartoon movie MULAN, could you make a reaction video about the main antagonist theme? His name is Shan Yu (FYI) and you can find an entire 7 minute video of his theme from TMC Productions on YT. Who was Shan Yu?: He is the mysterious chieftain of the Huns and a ruthless warlord who is determined to invade and conquer China because he believes that the Chinese emperor built the Great Wall as both an insult and a challenge. (Real Life) Attila the Hun Shan Yu was inspired by the real-life Attila the Hun. Though while Shan Yu died by the hands of fireworks, Attila died by choking on his own blood the night he was to be wed to his future wife, Ildico. Coincidently the name of the computer system that was used to animate the Hun army charge was called Attila. He expanded the rule of the Huns to include many Germanic tribes and attacked the Eastern Roman Empire in wars of extraction, devastating lands from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean, and inspiring fear throughout the late Roman Empire.

If you do more of the soundtrack, I would like to hear your views on the 16th Colossus' (known as Malus by the community) Theme. The theme is named "Demise of the Ritual", and is in my opinion the most Somber track in the game. To me, it conveys a tragedy, not of the player character, Wander, but of the fate that the Colossi have been sentenced to, all for the selfish desire of one man. Ironically, as the final boss, Malus is one of the more docile Colossi, and incredibly human, whil Wander is being corrupted by the "Ritual", with blackening skin and horns sprouting from his brow.

This single piece of music had not only shaped my taste for good music, but set a standard that, in my opinion, hasn't been met until Dark Souls. Super Smash Bros Melee is the only other I can think of to take orchestra seriously.
