The ash of war blast part does a lot more damage with higher arcane in my experience. 2 handed 66 strength and 80 arcane gives it the most damage I’ve found. Used it for my first dlc run whole way threw

Flower stone gavel should be higher on this list. It fits in a build that uses the dragon communion seal as the scaler for incantations. This kind of build would primarily be arcane, but also have enough faith to use lightning incantations.

Yep, super weird ranking, the purpose of the weapon is clearly to make lightning spells viable for arcane builds with the dragon communion seal. Plus you could still have a gravel stone seal in the other hand after using the debuff purely to boost damage.

Unfortunately the best lightning incantations all require more than 30faith lmao I'm thinking the optimal way to use it is a definitely a hybrid build of equal parts arcane and faith with just going for requirements for physical stats, like 50/53, so you can use the ash for damage, but also the debuff so you can follow up with an ADLS or bayles lightning (does fire/lightning/physical split, so it will benefit from the debuff, and because it's multiplicative, will result in more damage on water even considering the fire portion doing less damage)

@@samrichard4466 I'd say mix and match the death knight and raksasha sets to be able to freely boost both communion and cult spells and still have some defenses to use the melee dragon spells But for maximum damage probably use the priestess heart and use ancient dragon lightning strike with 2 gravel seals after landing the charged hammer ash, whatever it hits will be decimated

So a weird thing about the flowerstone gavel is the ash of war's debuff is chargable so a uncharged hit will give 23% debuff lightning negation but a charged hit will debuff the enemy by 30%

Morgott's cursed sword is A or S tier if you actually build around the AoW, which they aren't. Comes out pretty fast. Great stagger potential and hyper armor. And very strong bleed build up for a weapon that also has a decent amount of other good things going for it. But you need to be running Shard of Alejandro and Carian Filligreed to be effective, and focus on really spamming the ash at all available opportunities (even if it's just 1 input instead of both).

Love RGV to pieces, but it seems like whenever Hollow puts out a ranking video, it's disingenuous. The rankings might be somewhat agreeable, but they're done with so many different buffs and armor / talisman swaps that they're super misleading, not to mention that it feels like every vid he does must be on some level max character for the numbers were seeing. Would love to see some more transparency here, or just have Cotton or Josh do the rankings, since they're already far more transparent (and much more charismatic) about... well, everything.

Tips for Flowerstone weapon: Go 36/45 or 36/50 faith/arc Str 14 just to pick it up Use dragon communion seal combined with weapon. You get access to ancient dragon lightning strike as well as new lightning spear and a lot of basic ones like Bolt etc

Yeah, any ranking vid with Hollow is bound to be a disappointment. Dude is buffing and gear swapping into hyper optimized, high level builds for every weapon in such a tryhard way that most players don't bother with that it all comes across as disingenuous. The normal player isn't hitting for the numbers he's showing, and they aren't min/maxed to make those weapons do what he's doing. Much prefer vids with Cotton or Josh, who are honest about their stats, gear, and builds, so it makes sense why they're doing good (but realistic) damage, vs Hollow just spamming Fextralife content.

Flowerstone gavel i think benefits most in a faith/arcane dragon themed build focusing on communion and cult spells Proc frostbite with ice breath or ice lightning, gavel art, then lightning nuke (bayles lightning if you wanna reset frostbite and have the flair, any dragon cult lightning otherwise) Kaboom Also the ancient meteoric ore sword does have magic damage and arcane scaling, but the arcane scaling actually increases the physical AR and magic AR (though the magic is at a much lower rate), the weapon ash thrust uses the weapon and is therefore split magic/physical, but the shape charge is fully magic based iirc so magic damage buffs will make it even more deadly

People who are claiming that Ancient Meteoric Ore GS isn't really an arcane weapon aren't paying attention to how the damage scales. Arcane increases both the magic AND physical damage component of this weapon. And while strength scaling is better, a very simple respec test will show you quite clearly that increasing strength past 54 points yields far less AR than prioritizing arcane. The result is approximately a 50/50 split between str and arc for min/maxing your dps potential with this weapon (ignoring faith, if you are going to use buff incants, which certainly does change the calculus somewhat, but also, you can just put GV on a dagger so meh).

The biggest letdown of the dlc for arcane builds is that ansbachs weapons are primarily skill scaling instead of arcane scaling. And that we didn’t get a bloodflame seal. And that the new bloodflame spell is bugged and doesn’t cause bleed buildup And I’m pretty sure andbachs set buffs bloodflame spells too despite not saying that. Or my testing is bad

On high level builds, bloodfeind spear doesn't come close to the cross naginatas. Same blood build up but the damage is almost 100 AR apart on my build. They are lighter (maybe use less stamina, haven't tried) but they're beat out damage, range and moveset wise. I don't see what the big deal about them is.

Jump glitches were the worst way to farm. They took longer and that's if you could land your jumps perfectly. Good ol Wave of Gold to kill dozens if frogs is still the best farm there is.

Can we drop the bad attitude towards leveling the same we have for summons etc? It's so annoying seeing it have a negative connotation then also hearing "this lightning weapon doesn't work because you'd need strength, faith, AND arcane"..... Ok and? Especially for pve and going into new game plus another few dozen levels doesn't mean much or anything. Hell on your first play through if you don't want to be limited to just one particular set of weapons per spec then dump some extra levels into what ever Stat and run a hybrid build. Enjoy the game! Now for pvp what ever, that sort of makes sense. I still think if there are these massive limitations why not move up another 25 or 50 levels. But I understand that opens up insane builds if someone min maxs. Hence why I think pvp is not fun. Try hard and min max same as most games.

Blood adds more bleed proc, and occult takes a little bit of way for more damage -(as long as you pump your arcane higher. He said he uses occult, which is better in most cases and makes the weapon better all around.

Also if your looking at bleed build for bosses, Im currently using dual godskin peeler twinblades with seppuku ash of war and occult or bleed infused, (can be substituted for normal twin blades if needed) - and with twin blades I mainly use the jumping L1 attack, as if your close enough it hits 4 times in one attack, which is very good at proc bleed, this is what I used against malenia as it also staggered her whenever the bleed got proced.

The gavel specifically doesn't scale from dex, testable with any equipment or talisman that adds a little of arc, the scaling is with weapon refinement lvl and arc

Why the ???, it's made after the Ancient Dragon Lightning and guess what those Incarn require? Right Arcane. It works as a Debuffer for the New Lightning Spear Bolt thingy as a example
