This puzzle is bugged... If you don't rotate it in the right way from the beginning, then you may be not able to rotate to the correct position. You must reload the checkpoint. There seems to be some sort of tension when you set the rope. However the tension is not released even if you cut the rope. It still limits your rotation, pulling you back, so you can't get to the right position any more.

Umm it depends on the direction of your angle on lara... it took me a while, but after pressing the a key for a while and it rotating back against me, I pressed d and it worked... or you can move your mouse and you can rotate the puzzle as much as you want as long as you have the right angle... it’s not bugged

@@stormlighter82 Tbf, back in the 90's, puzzles make up the bulk of action games like TR. These days, its all about fast paced action gameplay which can be seriously halted with tedious puzzles. God of War is a great series, but the puzzles do bring down the game a notch.

I'm not denying the fact for some people there might be a bug. The initial connection for both the turning statues is actually to get the second smaller one into position. Then cut the rope to bring the larger turning stile to match up the tunnels. After release the blood oil mixture and burning oil. Hopefully, that helps because I didn't want to start over again.Someone's said it in the comments section you don't need to keep the turning statues connected. I worked on this for a while.

No fire arrow needed on either puzzle, btw. Those little fire altars at 0:20 and at 2:23 can both be used to ignite the oil. Just shoot the rope arrow and pull, causing the oil to fill. Wait for the oil to reach the little fire altar and then hit E to ignite the oil. Repeat: NO FIRE ARROWS NEEDED.

Only way to this figure the tracks out is to reload your checkpoint from the beginning of the mission then follow this video exact. It worked for me 🙌🏽

i got the glitch where youre unable to turn the left pillar a full 360, had no idea it was a glitch, set my puzzle hints to easy and still couldnt get it, this went on for 2 hours until defeat and insanity kicked in. thank u to whoever said the puzzle was bugged and thank you for the tutorial vid.

Puzzles in SOTTR are pain sometimes I know that Shadow of the tomb raider is seen as a mediocre TR/mediocre game in general...i can see what people are talking about (I've played in TR 1996/LAU trilogy/ both reboots and I'm familiar with other games through walkthroughs) Personally thought,it wasn't the worst experience in my life It was advertised to me as something terrible that crumbles apart in the front of your eyes while you're playing but I'm still able to have fun and i like some new mechanics Yeah, it has a weak plot, some puzzles are trying to be hard but in reality they're simply confusing/you lack context which can be really annoying I doubt that I'd have recommended it to anyone but it's solid if you have nothing better to do lol Maybe i lack standards for games but idc

There is a bug in the game when it comes to completing this trick. If for some reason the second wheel cannot go past 180 degrees while connected to the 1st wheel, reload the check point.

Can't belive it's this simple. For some reason I got it in my head that this is a timed puzzle and Lara had to set off the burning oil first and then rotate the wheels in time for the oil to follow the right track. Spent so long on it I got frustrated and took a break... for several months.

This puzzle is really really simple and easy, no need for explanation or video for it, it’s really easy, the only issue is if you downloaded the game from steam on PC sometimes the game physics mechanic breaks and the player can not rotate the pillars completely. The solution is to re load the game from the latest save point and then try it should work perfect
