Mordor's combat felt more visceral, a lot more screams and a cool emphasis on slowing down takedowns. War just speeds those up and as a result doesn't have much of an impact for me.

Having been playing War for a week or so now, I just booted up Mordor to get my own impressions. I prefer Mordor's combat a bit more (overall "feel" so to speak. can't quite put my finger on what exactly it is though), and the graphics are MUCH better in Mordor, especially particle effects and such. While I do like the variety of War's maps, they really feel a bit more bland overall because of the lighting and lack of reflections. I love a lot of the new abilities that War brings to your character, but I really dislike how some of the skills are locked behind a toggle feature i.e. why does drain make you choose between gaining elf shot or dominating orcs? The first game combined the two! In some cases it makes sense; choosing fire/frost/poison for your explosive shot for example, while a lot of others feel like they should just be straight upgrades that you can combine together. War has better orcs though through and through, and they expanded the domination excellently compared to the first. Ultimately, I feel pretty conflicted on the sequel; it does so much right, but it feels like it lost a lot of the finer details that the first had going for it

Thank you this is exactly what i was thinking when i played war. It seems like they fell for that typical developer trap. The "lets try and make it into something new trap" they were just doing too much and left out the things that made mordor so great. Id play mordor for hours just choppin off heads. But in war i just dont feel like that boogy man i was. I hope the third on goes back to its roots with the new powers no toggle feature and great combat.

It’s understandable that war does not have the same graphics of mordor, the fact is that war is a bigger game with more features and things to do. In fact Compared to the first, War needs more space in your hard disk because of the reasons i mentioned before, they just downgrade the graphics because is not nice to see you ps4/Xone melting after 2 Hours of gameplay.

Love both games personally since I am a Lord of the Rings fan, but I feel that playing Mordor is more fun. The combat is slightly better, and the graphics are really the same too just a bit more realistic in Mordor. I also really like that you can gather and expand an army of orcs in War, taking control of everything. I feel though the story of War is more intriguing.

After almost playing over 100 hrs on both games, I prefer Shadow of Mordor just because of the combat and the fact that I found the free roam to be better than Shadow of War. Shadow of War on the other hand is very good at keeping you occupied and busy. There’s a lot more to do in Shadow of War and more quests and conquers. But I found the Uruks to be a absolute pain in the but. Every time you try to escape they somehow hit you whistle doing so. Very annoying at times and it got me quite annoyed. Not to mention another positive is the Graphics The storyline in Shadow of Mordor was absolutely on point and there’s is nothing they could of done better apart from maybe tidy up some glitches such as the “Burning Vengeance” Achievement. If your having the same issue then the solution is to remove your epic runes from your sword (if you have any) Overall I loved my time on both games. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan so this was very fitting for me. If I had to say between them, Shadow of Mordor tops it slightly because of the combat system and Free roam. Enjoyed them both though one of the best games I have ever played. 5 stars for Shadow of Mordor. And 4.7 for Shadow of War

I love both games, and like them for different reasons. Mordor has a more gritty, brutal feel to it, while War focuses more on the bright side. Mordors combat feels more brutal, and War definitely is about the massive battles and maps. I love the fortress raids in War. Overall, I love both games, and I think Monolith did a great job with both.

As much as I enjoyed shadow of Mordor when I played it (especially in the first map) there was an uncanny feeling of loneliness, the orcs just kind of patrol, sit around campfires and follow leaders so sometimes you get the feeling of it being a dead map with orcs overlaid on top, just my opinion though it’s still a really good game (Also the end of this story kind of made me go “was that it?”) because it was really just a quick time event and jumping on some shadow guy from above

One thing I really hate about shadow of war is that how the orcs look. They all have nicely groomed hair and beard, their face also just look too human, not orc enough. In shadow of Mordor though the orcs actually looks and feels like orcs from the movie and the book. their Face is also more beast like and scary

I like war but morder just makes me feel better fsr, the style of it seems nicer and darker but in a nice way. Also I'm a little ticked of that they removed execution missions in war. I loved how you could see what the uruks where thinking as it gave me more immersion. I like the forts in war because it gave me a place to call home. Over all I like both games for diffrent reasons but it would be amazing if war and mordor mixed all of their good traits but a big company like wb, I dunno if that would happen.

My brother picked up SoM on ps4 used and i tried it out. Super dope combat. Super.. Eviscerating, involving? Looking for a word i dont have for the graphics, it really IMMERSES you. Super immersive graphics and ambiance. Im trying to figure out what version of the ps4 SoW to get. The "gold edition"-i think, the game pages are acting wierd- is on sale for $20 ans i cant select the "definitive" edition. I remember Mordor being more visceral and darker. I felt the camera was up close on the orcs and had tighter shots on the action sweat and dirt. Shadow of War had lost that tightness when they pulled the camera further back. War added a lot, it's just a shame they never followed up with anotha one 🔑. I remember playing this game and feeling like a badass, this and batman. I wish both Rocksteady and Monolith get some more games out soon.

Imo both are great but the only con was that it started to decimate in 4th and 5th gear whilst mordor powers through all 6. Mordor also had a really good launch. A pro to war is the funnel flanker doesn't get blocked easily therefore the equilibrium flows as per usual. When I'd go to the playthrough I'd end up pondering for a solid 4 to 18 days so to counter this I had to get rid of my IBS (Irritable Bal Syndrome) IBS. in order to do this I would have had to sacrifice a lot of my life to being dedicated to a change. In conclusion I tickle my dad's balls and my brother comes tickles mine while I'm down there getting in there tickling on my dad's balls. This forces my body to self eject the (IBS) (Irritable Bal Syndrome) (IBS)

Shadow of War is like a bigger version of the previous game. I spent 500+ hours on Shadow of Mordor which seems very strange for most people as it doesn't have that much of a content but I still enjoyed it and messed around with Nemesis system every time. U It never got boring for me. With Shadow of War there are even more things to do especially with the new skills you feel like a complete badass slaying orcs and stuff. The one thing which Mordor does better is the feeling of combat which War kinda stays behind. If you look at the executions in both games you would understand what I mean by saying the "feel" of killing animations. But still Shadow of War has like 4 times more killing animations than Mordor and overall i's a superior game. I would recommend to play both of them first Mordor and then War as they are connected but if you can only get one you should stick with Shadow of War because it offers much more content.

Why have graphics comparisons capped at 720p?

While Mordor does have a better FEEL then War, I got bored of Mordor pretty quickly. War has SO much more to do, the story is much more intriguing and I kind of like the brighter colors and less gore (I have youngins who like to watch me play when I'm not looking lol) Put it Simple, Mordor: Cool vibe. Shadow: Ride dragons and command Armies

im finishing now shadow of war an i can say mordors is a better game. War is so repetitive... Combat doesnt feel as funny as in mordors. It lacks impact. Its just overwhelming all the things u can do. And the story telling was also much more catching.

Started shadow of mordor couple days ago wanted to see how os shadow of war looks like and what were revives on that game and looks like that game is all about micro transactions so I'm not buying shadow of was and will enjoy this one

Emil Aliev microtransactions were completely removed, and this game is completely dufferent now. Much more fun than SoM was.

yeah i guess they got rid of the microtransactions after it blew up in their face. i got rid of mine long before that though. i played war for a few hours and it just felt and looked kinda clunky compared to mordor to me, i just couldn't get into it. still have my mordor goty edition and have no interest in giving war another chance. hopefully they learned their lesson and keep microtransactions out of the new arkham.

I liked Shadow of War's Talion, but disliked his default skin/outfit. Shadow of Mordor's default outfit looked more appropriate. Talion in SoW looked younger, which I can see as being a side attribute to the New Ring. His cape seems mended, which is odd, and I'm not a big fan of the BRIGHT RED on his outfit. It looks like he stole a rug from the Black Wall and used that to patch his armor... flawlessly with the help of Celebrimbor. Combat wise, prefer SoW, with the exception of wrath. I just don't like using Wrath and having Celebrimbor fire a volley of arrows. I much prefer SoM's way, give unlimited executions/drains.

First game is better in my opinion the grunts look way better the background is way better graphics and everything is more dark.

I've played through both on max settings, war with resolution scaling to 4k. You're all on crack if you think Mordor looks better, and as for gameplay they are fundamentally the same game except war has more abilities and the AI is vastly superior. They're equally great games.

Mordor has a darker atmosphere, Shadow Of War is way too bright even in Gorgoroth which is supposed to be the darkest place of them all. The uruks look better in SoM imo they look like actual uruks/orcs in the way how Tolkien described them, in SoM they look kinda bad. Also in SoM the armor looks better, in SoW the armor is red or blue depending on if you have branded them or not. In SoM the armor looks the same either way, and weather effects like rain is better in SoM imo. The nemesis system is obviously improved a lot in SoW which makes it better in terms of gameplay even though I prefer SoM.

the gameplay are indeed pretty similar but for some reason in SoW everything got clunkier. i never had any issues with SoM parkour but in war he seems to be always aiming at another fucking building or the ground when i just wanted to grab the ledge in front of me. same with combat. aiming in melee is terrible and imo the ranged enemies got way too buffed that fighting them always becomes really tiring instead of having fun. they attack so fast that even talion's attack animations can't keep up making me lose my combo every time. combat overall is too overwhelming in war but in mordor it's just the right amount. whenever i get bored it's always more enjoyable to randomly go about killing captains or warchiefs in mordor than doing all the chores and sieges in war.

Shadow of War is a very unpolished game and the execution sounds an details are way too short and not satisfying at all what a downgrade compared to Shadow of Mordor so I am asking you if you are high if you actually think they are the same also I doubt you have played Shadow of Mordor or else you wouldn't even be saying this, if you talk at least get your facts straight

Shadow of Mordor. While both are great, SOM had a much more Tolkien feel to it. It was dark, brutal and showed the savagery of man vs uruk SOW while much more innovative didn't stick aswell as Shadow of Mordor.
