Shadow People and The Hat Man | Who are they? What do they want?
Here's how it happens.
You're drifting off to sleep; or maybe you wake up in the middle of the night. You feel a presence in the room.
You see something out of the corner of your eye. You try to look but you can't move. You try to call out, but you're unable to make a sound. There's an invisible weight on your chest. Even breathing is difficult.
You strain to look and then you see it. The shadow of a person. You can't detect any features but every instinct you have tells you: this is entity is not friendly.
You hear a light hum, maybe a rush of air and the dark entity vanishes.
You've just encountered a shadow person.
This one was pretty benign, but there are some shadow people sightings that are more intense. More real. These encounters can be traumatic and in some cases: violent.
I should know. Because it happened to me.

Oh man, I experienced this before as well. I was in my old townhouse and I was cleaning up the basement and finished doing a tune up on my car as well. My basement opened up to my garage. Cleaning up, putting tools away, getting the oil ready for recycling, all of the sudden from the corner of my eye, a shadow. Disappeared when I did a double take. I didn't think nothing of it. As I took off my shoes and went up the stairs, before closing the lights, a shadow popped up, and I almost tripped on the steps. Soon as I called out to it, "WHO ARE YOU?", gone. Then my light turned on where my laundry machines were. Then turned off. I then said "If you're gonna live here, you better pay rent, so help me!" That was it. Never saw it again. Damn free loader shadows.

The Sleep Paralysis explanation falls short in explaining instances where multiple people experience sleep paralysis in the same room at the same time, and instances where mulitple people experience it in the same room at a different time. FWIW: My story from when I was 11 years old. After moving to a new city, I began having nightmares of these shadowing beings that chased me through the apartment building we lived in then. Each time they finally caught me, it felt as if I had no strength to defend myself, throwing ineffectual swings at these things. I would wake up in a cold sweat, feeling it to be hard to move or think straight, sluggish. After several weeks of this, I was running from them and suddenly became aware that I was dreaming. (I later learned this is called lucid dreaming) I told myself that in my dreams, I could do what I want and decided I COULD beat these shadows. I let them catch me and then proceeded to beat them down. I never saw them again, and I'm 68.

See by your own admittion you were asleep and your mind can make things up or dream in that state but there are countless numbers of people who where not sleeping that experience incredible things what accounts for those people's experiences ? I refer you to the pheonix lights siting where 1000's of people seen the lights and 1000's of video but those people where told what they saw were flares dropped from a military plane so my 1st question is how did the flares stay in perfect formation and not fall to the ground and 2nd where was the plane that dropped these so called flares,no one seen it. If I could ask the military 1 thing I would ask let me see you do it again repeat the process. Again someone trying to tell someone else what they saw CRAZY MAN !!!!!

I just had this happen a few days ago. It was a dark figure in my face. My eyes were forced closed, my mouth unable to open, and every muscle was spasmodic…I tried to relax and send love and it laughed - the pain was unbearable so I prayed. I woke up, but was just in a new level of the dream…still unable to move. I prayed more and again woke up but still in a dream until the third time I was back in my bed. I live on a boat, alone. It’s bad enough that I can’t resist watching ufo videos, but this one took me to a whole new level. Especially because what happened in the video happened to me. Experiencing this was bad enough. Wondering what that noise was out on the dock- the empty dock in the middle of winter, well damn, goodbye sleep and hello suite of automatic flood lights I will be installing on deck and in the cabin. I can’t describe the real fear this video has brought out in me, which means the Why Files is one heck of a well made and expertly produced show. I would say thanks, but after this episode, I will simply say I am impressed with the level of story telling. Like many, I have seen nearly every video. Tonight, on this cold, black January night, I decided to delve deeper into to the episodes I was putting off….wow.

I'm not a religious person, but command them in the name of Christ to leave. I used to get messed with a lot as a teenager, occasionally as I got older. The last one was just awful though. It shapeshifted into a little girl that was pretending to console me asking if I was okay. I said yes sweetie, why do you ask? Then with a low voice "because you are going to die". I haven't had sleep paralysis since and I hope I never do again.

I'm from the Himalayas in Northern India. In our culture, we too have the exact concept of shadow people. They are called "Cheloo", which is literally a shadow. People and especially children and women are advised to keep away from woods and waterfalls and brooks after dark. Otherwise you may end up in a state of shock, which we called "Chalna". And another thing I noted was that most of the things he said about shadow people is what my parents and grandparents have told me in their stories of people who had these encounters. My grandma suffered one such attack and was in shock for a few months.

For anyone suffering from sleep paralysis, you can end it by holding your breath. This causes the brain to think something is suffocating you and reactivates your muscles so that you can solve the problem. I’ve had insomnia and recurring sleep paralysis for years, and I frequently use this trick. The bad news is that I’m usually too tired to get out of bed, and I often just fall right back into sleep paralysis, sometimes six or seven times before finally falling asleep for real. Knowing that I can end the sleep paralysis at any time calms me and helps me avoid panicking, so recently I have tried just letting it play out. I still get hallucinations, but they are more of a nuisance than frightening. The worst are the auditory hallucinations that I can sometimes get before I even know that I’m in sleep paralysis, as these almost always take the form of footsteps in my house which is so mundane as to be believable. Once, I heard the slightly damp slapping sound of bare feet on hardwood floor. After a few moments, it paused, and then resumed again, unnaturally quickly. That shook me. Hope this helps friends

That' sounds really cool to me! I don't suffer from the paralysis but I suffer from a shopping list of other, troublesome things. lol I have a post above, in regards to one of the sleep issues. Sleep, REM and lucid dreams are fascinating and as a kid, I figured out that if you face your dreams. You take control. Similar to your technique and it worked for me and if we can help, even 1 other person, to take control, then it's worth doing a little bit of typing! ;) Cheers Mon Ami from Montreal Quebec Canada

In my 40+ years on this Earth, I have never had a paranormal experience or sighting........except one. This video is it. I lived in a bachelor pad with other friends at the time, and I was in my early 20s. I went to bed one normal night and fell asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I couldn't move. My eyes dart over to my left, and there it was, this dark shadow standing over me. It had no facial recognition of any sort. It was just an outline of a "person" standing there. The outline shape reminded me of somebody with a hood pulled up over their head. Finally, I snapped out of my freeze, and it was gone. It had never happened to me before that moment, and it has never happened since. It's something that I will never forget and can still see it in my memory to this day.

I suffer from sleep paralysis weekly. Over the past decade, my wife has become accustomed to recognizing when I’m encountering it, because I often mutter faint, panicked sounds, and she’ll wake me. I’ve seen it all from the black mists, to what look like gray aliens, to what I thought were merely other family members of mine coming to visit. One thing potentially positive that I will say is that after experiencing this for so many years, I’ve finally gotten to a point where my paralysis is somewhat lucid, and I’ll actually recognize it when I’m experiencing it. At this point, I even have to arrange certain objects in my bedroom before sleeping because during sleep paralysis, I’ve noticed that they’ll morph into unfriendly figures. For example, I have a patterned hat hanging on my mirror that I’ve seen morph into various faces/heads- once it was the angry head of a pitbull, and once it even looked like my brother standing there. My best recommendation to anyone else experiencing this is to limit sleeping on your back and try not to drink alcohol before bed. Those things can induce it.

Yes!!! Finally an explanation! A year ago I was coming back home, from Germany to Romania. I was travelling by car( hitch hiking) and at the time, only me and the driver were left in the car. It was around 1.30AM, we were just coming out of a village and into a small forrest. From left to right what looked like a person made of shadows passed very quickly in front of our car. The driver hit the brakes so hard the ABS came on. He asked me if I saw it and I said yup. I saw it. We didn't speak for a little while after that, we were so shook. 4:34 is the timestamp that made me leave this comment. It looked just like that. Misty, translucent. The headlights went through it and they left no shadow on the ground behind.

And i saw a Shadow of something scuttle very Fast across the 20foot gravel road. Fast doesn’t describe it. I never spoke of it cause my job i would he let go lol. It was no animal, it was nothing animalistic that we know. It was on the road not standing, like swimming across… was startling, i stopped smoking and went back inside. There was some strange activity (things falling off the bookcase and landing on a sofa half a meter away), our 2 yo son would stare at the empty corridor and talk to someone/something etc. But one night, I heard my husband struggling to breathe, like he was having a bad dream and tried to scream. I woke him up and he told me, he had a nightmare with a tall figure wearing a wide brimmed hat and long black coat. That was 13 years ago and he still remembers it. Imagine my surprise, when I watched this episode… Take care, AJ. Greetings from Scotland, Anna x

I just wanted to share that I've had sleep paralysis for over 2 decades. I started off thinking it was supernatural when it first started happening, 20 years later it still happens (less occasionally) and now I'm a skeptic. Ive had it so many times that I can feel it coming on (the buzzing humming noises) and once I'm paralyzed I know exactly how to calm down and wake up/break out of it. Sometimes when I feel the initial rush and fear, I embrace it and try my best to look around to see if I can see any 'shadow people', even egging it on. I've seriously sworn and laughed at and challenged whatever entity there may be during sleep paralysis, and I can safely say it's all a figment of my imagination. I want to believe in the supernatural, but I think there's a logical explanation for Hatman and shadow people sightings. I think once you experience that feeling of extreme fear and dread, and you fight against it, you'll realize everything is just in your head and you'll wake up, go toilet and go right back to sleep. Hope this helps anyone out there

Same same same. Sleep paralysis thinking it was supernatural back when I was a teen when it first started. All of it. A few years into it my best friend who was native American started feeding me his cultural stories of the shadow people. I believe this is an ancient cross cultural explanation for sleep apnea and paralysis. Most ghost stories have a scientific explanation. Started getting better when I stopped believing the nonsense. Seemed to get worse when I had confirmation bias. Praying helped at first. Sometimes I still wake up screaming for help. But its very rare and I remember I am OK. I do fear I will stop breathing one day though as I am asthmatic.

I think you’re on to something. I only had sleep paralysis once 15 yrs ago, but I had every symptom but hallucination. My mind concluded that a serial killer had drugged me, and it would be best to shut my eyes and give in to the drugs. I only discovered recently that I am part of the 3% that has aphantasia (I can’t conjure images in my head, only access real visual memories). I’ve wondered if that’s why I didn’t see a “sleep paralysis demon”. Then again, I know I can hallucinate (after an unfortunate incident with Serotonin Syndrome), but I only saw spiders and rats and was fully aware it was hallucination, so like the sleep paralysis, I just closed my eyes to escape the discomfort. I’m dying to meet another person with aphantasia and sleep paralysis to see if my theory has any merit.

@@giabarrone7422 Yeah man, sometimes I actually TRY to hallucinate during sleep paralysis but all I ever get are the loud whirring noises and the obvious paralysis sensation, it really doesn't take much to become aware when it's happening and snap out of it these days. I'm convinced it's just our brain activity between conscioussness and REM sleep that's causing it. No demons lol

I see sleep paralysis as a more or less harmless brain-glitch, and if it happens these day, I tend to figure out almost instantly what's going on. Unfortunately that doesn't stop the overwhelming feelings of dread which in my case even tend to linger for long after the experience is over. The lingering effect might be related to my CPTSD tho, as in the SP triggers the CPTSD, which in turn F's up the rest of my night's sleep. Fortunately the SP seems to happen less and less often as I grow older. I'm in my forties and the last episode was years ago. I used to have them several times a month when I was in my teens.Shadow people etc do happen, but I usually can't open my eyes. In it's typical form I'm acutely "aware" of something big and evil that want' to tear off my face breathing and growling mere inches from my face. And I can't get over the fact how utterly real it feels when it happens. Fun times!

They wandered around my room when I was a kid in Meriden, CT. They were scary but I got used to them. There were maybe 3 or 4 of them each time. They were man sized, and seemed to be wearing cowled silver robes. I was never able to make out facial features or arms and legs. There was something like an electric buzzing sound that accompanied them. When I was brave enough to get up and touch them, my hand would go through them. I could walk through them. I do not think they were aware of, or had any interest in my presence. There was never any interaction with them. They moved about very slowly, rather like floating. It seems to me that they appeared every night when I was a kid and it didn’t matter where I was sleeping, they were there when the lights went out. As I grew older the visits became fewer and fewer, they were just a part of life that I could see but no one else could. When I was about 30 I had just moved to Hartford for a new job. Visits from the shadow people had become very informal very infrequent but one night when the lights were out the old familiar electric buzzing sounded and the shadow people were back. I somehow had a feeling that I would never see them again. I am 73 years old now, and I haven’t seen them since that night.

My wife's Uncle had a bad car accident and he said the scariest thing was when he was in the hospital there was a guy in a top hat that just stood there and looked at him. Fast forward 20 years later there's an old woman I knew that fell in her apartment and she was on the floor for a few days. She said, "The weirdest thing was there was this big dark guy in a top hat that just stood there and looked at me. He didn't say anything."

I have seen the Hat Man on a couple of occasions throughout my life. At the time of my first sighting I had never heard of it. Before that though, I had a fold out couch in my room as a teenager. In the middle of one weekend afternoon I decided to lay down on the couch and read. I put my book down and turned my head toward the back of the couch. I then heard my closet door open, sliding across the carpet very slowly. Feeling that there was someone in my room brought so much terror to me and I couldn't move. Someone was walking from my closet over to the couch. I tried screaming but only a raspy breath came out and I couldn't lift my head up. Then I felt the breath on my neck. It took everything that I had but I finally wrenched my head and torso off of the couch and flung myself on the seat half way up the wall. No one was there. My closet door was open half way into the room. I understand some things being hallucinations, but nothing will explain to me why my door was open. I always made sure that my window was shut and locked, and my closet and room doors were closed at all times. I NEVER want to experience this again.

My mother and her two sisters shared a room growing up. All three have the same exact story about the hat man. They had just gone to bed and they would chat in whispers so mom and dad wouldn’t hear. They were laying there with a single night light on. All three saw a black silhouette come thru the closet door. They were all paralyzed and unable to move or scream. The figure was solid black and looked like it was wearing a duster style trench coat with a wide brimmed hat, like a cowboy hat. It had white eyes and was over 7 feet tall. It faded and all three jumped up at once and bolted. Grandma tells the story about all three running into her bed at once in a panic. Grandpa was at work. There’s no way all them made up the same story. Never seen it again

Yes, I watched one peek over my shoulder in my first apartment at 17 yrs old while I sat on the floor placing my freshly cleaned laundry on hangers.. when i seen it out the corner of my eye... it darted towards the adjacent corner of the room.. moving quick enough to form traces behind itself.. yet it looked as if in slow motion. This video inspired me to share an incident from my younger days. I was 10-11 years old. The year was 1992 or 1993, and my big brother and I went to a neighbor's house to watch a WCW wrestling PPV. My friend Lamar lived there with his cousin, aunt, and mother. Sometime during the show, I got hungry and decided to walk home and grab a bite. There was a vacant home between my house and my friend's house. When I walked outside and started toward my house, I see this large shadow figure on the side of the vacant house. The house was white, so even in the dark (it was like 9pm or so), that shadow was easily visible. My first thought was "damn that's a big shadow!" I stopped in my tracks and moved my arm to see if it was my shadow somehow... but the shadow didn't move. Just there on the house with his arms straight down to its side. I looked back and the friends house to see if someone was standing near the window to make sure I made it home... nope-curtains and blinds were closed. Then I looked to see was there anyone else outside... nope. Now I'm frightened! I RUN to my house and knocked on the door so hard that my mom was curious if something was chasing me. I said it was nothing, and apologized. I got a bite to eat but decided to not go back to watch the rest of the PPV. Went to my room as I was too afraid to go back outside. An hour or so passed, and I heard my friend's Aunt come into the house with my brother.. she walked him home. We lived in a small house so you can hear everything. I hear the aunt tell my mother that she saw a shadow walk through the living room, and into the boys bedroom! She didn't know what to think of it.. but it scared her too. Hearing her say this didn't help me at all!!! I tucked my head under the covers and went to sleep. The next day was Monday, a school day. Coming home from school and getting off the bus, Lamar and I noticed that all the dogs in the area were howling, they only did this when the train was coming (we lived right in front of a railroad). I thought that was odd because there was not a train coming. I got home, and Lamar soon came over and asked if he could borrow a video game, I said sure... if you let me borrow your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II movie (I loved that movie!!). He agreed, then left to get it from his house. A little while passed and I noticed that he hadn't returned. My parents weren't home yet btw. I think his mom probably said "no" to letting me borrow the movie. Then I got a knock on the door, it was my uncle who was looking for my dad. When I opened the door, I saw people standing around across the street past the railroad, there were police and ambulances everywhere. I asked my uncle what was going on over there... he told me that he thinks that little boy from the other house (Lamar) got hit by a car on his bike.. and it looked like he was dead. Sure enough.. he died instantly! Now my mind and fear went into overdrive because I immediately began to think... was it the shadow of death that walked into his room last night!!? His cousin slept over at our house that night as he was afraid to sleep in his room. Needless to say, I looked around for shadows for years after this incident.

Similar for proylene glycol in inhalers/vapes and other dyes, flavorings, and preservatives. Couple years into my marriage, I awoke one night strained in breath, frozen except for my eyes, a great weight on my chest, and a large shadow at the foot of our bed. I attempted to scream to my wife to warn her and could only scream in my head. It tormented me by slowly dragging the blankets of my feet and dragging me to the end of the bed. Just before my knees were finally off the bed, I was free. Yelled to my wife and grabbed at her awakening her. it was gone, and I couldn't sleep for a while.

All of those entities are FEEDING FROM YOUR FEAR, so if you dont fear them and try to love them they cant do anything to you. I know its not easy to do when you encounter them but give it a try. When I was little, I used to see shadow people often. I had trouble staying asleep at night so I would wake up pretty frequently. Sometimes I would see them moving around my room near the walls, these never scared me. But I remember one that always terrified me, even to this day thinking about it I get chills. This was one large figure that I saw a handful of times, but one time sticks in my memory the most. It was huge, and it would stand over me when I was asleep. I could feel it before I saw it and would be afraid to open my eyes, but I did anyway. It bent itself down over me and I couldn't move or scream. It was completely black, no light eyes or anything and shaped like a person with head, shoulders and arms. When I closed my eyes again and reopened them a few seconds later, it was gone. This was the only one that scared me like that, I'd also see smaller shadow people, usually the same night as the scary one, later on after it's appearance. They would sometimes be tiny, maybe half a foot tall, I'd see them moving around on the edge of my bed and sometimes across my arms if they were very, very small, but I could see them clearly because they were so close. The feeling was totally opposite of the scary one, I felt happy and safe watching them until I fell asleep. I haven't seen shadow people in a long time. I miss seeing the little ones that made me feel a strange contentedness and happiness, but I don't miss the big one at all, it still scares me to this day. I've told a few people this story, I don't think most of them believe me. But it is 100% the truth, and I'll never forget the feelings it gave me

We lived in a very "active" townhouse for years. My ex and I sensed it all around us, but would never see anything. Our oldest son, who from birth was a sensitive started seeing a demonic shadow person that said it was going to replace me with itself which as you can imagine terrified my son...strangely enough, that was a period of dark depression and anger for me. We fortunately got out of there in '16 and have since found peace. Scary stuff for those of us who experience these phenomena. Side note: I love this channel! AJ your narration and ability to captivate the audience is impeccable with just the right amount of comic relief coming from Heckelfish. Keep up the amazing work!

The only time I've seen "shadow people" was when I dropped acid in an arcade in the 80s. However, I can relate to bed ridden paralyzing fear. When I was 10, my mother wanted to surprise me on easter Sunday with a Bugs bunny stuffed animal. She placed it in the middle of the night for me to wake up to. Instead, I woke up in the middle of the night. Bugs had glow in the dark eyes. I was paralyzed with fear. It took me 5 minutes to generate a scream. (just like Costello) Both are true stories.

I've seen them. One appeared at my bedside one night. Earlier that day, due to certain struggles my family was having, I shouted to Satan and any and all evil spirits around me that I was declaring open war against them. I was so tired of all the problems that I knew they were at least partially responsible for. That night one appeared to me. Though it just stood there I couldn't move or breathe. I could feel its anger radiating off of it. I thought I was going to die. It left only after I had prayed in my head for help. It left me with a certain respect for the power of evil. Never play around with it, never provoke it. Fight it by doing good. I think shadow people, at least some of them, are either the fallen angels kicked out of Heaven or the spirits of wicked people who have died. They seem to be attracted to anger and other forms of wrongdoing. I've never told this to anyone before. This happened 13 years ago.

A long time ago I read a story about a person whose job it was to exercise evil. On one of his missions he encounters the devil himself haunting someone. When the devil manifested before him the man knelt down and addressed him as the Lord of all Evil. Instead of performing his ritual to banish the evil the devil chose to leave willingly. After it was over the spectators in the room asked him why he knelt down before him and the man answered "A Lord of evil is still a Lord." What you said reminds me of that story. Even though we consider evil our enemy we are still only human and the pain they can inflict is very real.

Me and three of my subordinates saw one while on guard duty at a weapons depot in Macedonia during the Yugoslavia war! It was first spot it by the sensors then we saw it with NVG’s it was fracking confusing because we saw the shadow and we could also see through it! I followed protocol I went to make contact with two of my troops while the others stayed at their positions guarding their stations but recording everything. Well, we made the strangest contact ever. It was clear we could not make physical contact, but we all got very cold (our weapons too) and there was a burnt smell in the air, with no noise whatsoever, not even wind! It knew we were there and then as it came it vanished! That was on May 1994. We wrote a report, transmitted a radio report and the very next morning every video was taken away and we had the worst time ever from high above (you imagine). So either they ARE real! or it was a new tech being tested with us.

My Dad was a captain in the British army, during WW2. He had an extraordinary experience while billeted in an old mansion. They all kept hearing footsteps going down the stairs and along the passage at night. The officers were in a separate room and were sure one of the men were playing tricks. They had to get to the bottom of it, because some of the men were getting winded. He and the corporal laid a trap with cotton threat tied across the stairs and sprinkled talcum powder all down the stairs and along the hall. That night, they waited for the footsteps and jumped out to catch the blighter responsible. But no-one was there and none of the traps had been disturbed. My Dad counted the stairs and there were 12, but the nightly noises made 13 steps down. My Dad asked at the local pub and was told that the house had been remodelled and a new staircase put in - it used to have 13 steps. He was a career soldier, and not a fanciful man.

I've experienced these shadow people three times in my life. The second encounter was terrifying... I was in a deep depression after losing three family members in a short period of time. I was looking for answers. I read Jung's work man and his symbols, red book and other texts like kundalini and books on consciousness, and alchemical texts. At around 3am a shadow person woke me trying to creep up on me in my sleep. When it saw I was awake it suddenly knelt on my back and I felt an immense sense of sleepiness. I heard my partner whisper "it's okay babe go back to sleep". But my partner was at work that night. It was this thing trying to trick me to go back to sleep. I was trying to stand up but couldn't. The shadow then laughed and said that it hadn't tricked me. It had a knife and played with it into my right palm. I felt pain and managed to push up and it disappeared. I saw I had a cut on my hand. I actually showed my mum the next day and she joked saying it looked like a stigmata and asked how I hurt myself. I told her what happened and she didn't believe me. Not long after that I then saw the hat man in a lucid dream. I think maybe the hat man hunts whatever these things are? But others have said that it's attacked them.

When I was 25, I had a terrifying experience that I have never shared with anyone, even when I've heard people talk of similar incidents. It happened in my own bedroom in my apartment during the day. My room was bright as the sun shone with piercing rays through my blinds. Then suddenly, the sun seemed to be dampened and my room became darker, or did my vision become darker, I'm not sure. As the room darkened, I felt an increasing feeling of tiredness overwhelm me and I immediately fell asleep on my bed. Within what felt like seconds I remember drifting off and suddenly panic took over as I began to choke. Fighting for my breath, I opened my eyes and saw someone looking down at me. Its eyes were white with deep, dark pupils that looked endless. Its head had no lines as if my eyes could not comprehend. As it gazed upon me with its sinister eyes and a shadow of a body, I was paralyzed. My petrified body could not physically fight back and I overcame with panic. While struggling, my fear quickly turned to determination and my will broke through this enthralling gaze and I grabbed a hold of its hands around my neck. Its eyes showed shock and in less than a second it had retreated and as the traces of its form left my room, the light chased the shadows from my room.

There's a phenomenon in my language called "Segateledi" where you feel helpless, someone would be doing something to you and you are unable to Shout, Move etc. you are just helpless until they are done with you. And with regard to Shadow people, as a child this is what we were told of in Ghost Stories, they were dark creatures not clearly visible, but had red eyes, and when they spoke flames would come out of their mouth. My encounter happened in broad daylight (I mentioned this in the original poll for this video). My friend and I were in his living room on the couch probably around 4 in the afternoon when suddenly this scribbly looking outline just wafted in front of us. It looked like a man wearing a hat carrying a briefcase and he just sort "floated" past us and down the hall. We both looked at each other to make sure we weren't crazy and when we got up to look there was nothing. What's weird is it went toward his moms room and she had a stroke not long after, it was the creepiest thing I'd ever seen

I've had multiple clear encounters with some sort of shadowy spirit type things throughout my life, but very few attempts to actually attack me & no accompanying smell. The one which did was something I never physically saw, but I could imagine it very clearly in my mind as a cloaked figure with no face & glowing yellow eyes. I woke up in the middle of the night one day & tried to sit up, but it was like I was repelled like a magnet away from actuall being able to fully sit up. I tried a couple more times & the force field felt lower. I tried pushing my hands against it & my hands literally got trapped in midair. I couldn't lower them. After flailing around for a minute, I just decided to attempt to fight whatever it was and calmed myself to wait for what happened next & all of a sudden, the force field just went away by itself. In my mind, I could picture this thing sit up, look to the other side of the room, pretty much instantaneously teleport over there, turn to look into the hallway, teleport again, turn to look down the hallway, teleport again, then it was just gone. Never happened again. Now, it's hard to know if you're being had, but other people have described a similar being in my general area on ghost sites, but each one is different. The other two I found was a cloaked figure with no face & glowing red eyes & a cloaked figure, with a pale white face & solid black eyes. The only other experiences I've ever had with Shadow People, however, have been completely innocuous. One shaped like an old woman, hunched over with a lantern in hand would appear from the door just before I fell asleep as a child, walk across the room, set the lantern down & go back the way she came. That would happen no matter what room I slept in, but only in the one, particular house. Another time, I saw what looked like the silhouette of a Native person with the eastern siouan style headdress (look up images of the Catawba tribe to see what I mean.) over my bed, unmoving, with nothing there to cast such a shadow between the lamp & the bed. I screamed, but by the time people came to see what the issue was, it was gone. The last one I ever saw was in a dream. There was a shadow person in my closet, but when I started freaking out, it ran out of the closet, came up to me, gave me a hug, like it was trying to calm me down or comfort me, then I woke up.

Do you guys hear sounds associated with it like the sound of a flag flapping in the wind? or a light buzzing/humming? i also suffered from it a lot as a teen. one night i could hear something moving down the hallway outside my room and it sounded like it was getting closer and closer. i decided to wake myself up by bursting awake and trying to look/prove to myself that nothing was there. well something was there. i tried to explode up out of my bed but only got to about a half push-up position when i froze up with a buzzing/humming in my head/felt like in my whole body. it didnt hurt. most of my experiences were just "regular" sleep paralysis. my advice, dont explode awake and try to see what you can sense is there just out of your vision plain. it scared the crap out of me. i was 16 at the time so this was over 20 years ago. edit: i just got to 17:16 in the video and it gave me chills. the person in the story describes hearing the sound of foot steps dragging across the carpet. thats exactly what I heard outside my room that night. it sounded like it was getting closer and closer is why i eventually sprang awake. i was pretending to be alseep the whole time once fear woke me up i continued to lay perfectly still while trying to fall back asleep but once it sounded like it had gotten super close i became too frightened. I think i was able to surprise whatever it was. i didnt see a full blown witch or anything like the story in the video. what i saw i would describe as smoke or a cloud. it was roughly oval shaped but seemed to be sort of shimmering or moving around within the confines of its border. it was a grayish blackish color that I cant really describe. almost shiny looking even though it was at night in my room. once i sprang up to look at it and i froze up, it moved from the head of my bed where i was frozen looking around to the side and then disappeared.

My apartment is the top floor of an old house built in 1875. I walked in my door, from smoking on my porch, and there was a shadow man catycorner from the end of the short hallway. He was blocking the street light coming through the curtain. He was about six feet tall. I'm 5'2". I didn't get any negative energy from him. That was about three years ago. I've only seen him that one time. But there are a couple of young girls that hang around sometimes. Peaking around doorways, teasing my cat, especially using shadows. And on occasion changing whatever is on my screen when I'm not close to my phone. One time in 2021 my adult son spent the night. I hadn't had a chance to tell him about my spirit buddies. He got up in the middle of the night to pee. He thought he almost bumped into me in the hallway and said "excuse me" with his eyes half open. Only to realize I was snoring in my bedroom. 🤣 Theres a shadow kitty too. I can't forget about that!

I had a shadow person experience (or I guess it could be better classified as form of sleep paralysis), but it happened back in December 2017 and hasn’t happened since. It was completely terrifying. I was asleep in my room (I lived alone), and at one point during the night I kind of came out of sleep. It wasn’t so much waking up as it was like coming out of deep sleep into a semi-awake state. I was kind of in that state of consciousness where you’re somewhere in between awake and sleep, but you also know you’re not dreaming. I was laying on my back and there was a tall dark person standing on my left side looking down at me. It was such a frightening feeling because I knew it was impossible for anyone else to be in that room with me. I tried to shout but no should came out. It started to bend down reach out towards me like it was trying to grab or take me, I tried to shield myself with my arm, but while I could feel my arm moving nothing actually happened. I couldn’t move my body at all and as it got closer I just remember going unconscious, like back to sleep, but it was less like I fell back asleep and more like I was put to sleep. I woke up later in a cold sweat, I remembered seeing that figure and basically being completely helpless. I rarely remember my dreams so the fact that I remember this just reinforces to me that this wasn’t a dream. The experience still freaks me out to this day.

You just described sleep paralysis perfectly. Your brain switches on to paralyzed mode to prevent you from acting out your dream motions and hurting yourself, so when you're halfway, you think like you're awake, but your mind isn't letting you move.

They definitely exist. When I was 16 years old I was watching dbz and my bedroom door was open. I looked out to the hallway with a heavy dread feel and saw a shadow person with glowing red eyes with very long slits for pupils. I didn't think it was real, but my cat was on the bed next to me staring at it, and hissed and chased after it, and it just evaporated instantly. The moment I saw my cat recognize it, was when I genuinely understood that it was real. Very scary experience.

So thankful to hear someone talking about shadow figures from a first hand perpective! I too have seen a shadow person in broad daylight, and it changed my life and my perception of the realm outside our day to day. For years I have described the electricity feeling that I felt when it appeared. I had never heard anyone else describe it! What a validating feeling. Love this channel!
@zeko3421
@zeko3421 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! The electricity feeling is literally the abstract form of all our senses (touch, cold, taste and even emotion such as anger, love and FEAR). My theory is that these beings know how to activate certain emotions (especially fear, they appear to really like to startle us) in us by getting close. and when you are confused with this situation and actually don't understand what is going on, the fear they project into you or activate insides you, feel like an electricity rather than an emotion. Same as when you hear people speaking in different language, you can hear them but dont understand them, so all you hear is voices not speech (with the shadow person electricity, not fear)

This is awesome! I have experienced shadow people before and very clearly. Back in Peru where I am from we had a new maid with us working in our house but this lady had a dense atmosphere in her. The moment she started working for us I started seeing shadow people in our living room, my brother saw them too and another 9 to 10 friends that came over . I am an artist and stay until very late to draw and paint and one night I felt every finger of a cold hand grabbing my forearm and not letting go for about 5 seconds. I tried not to panic and stay calm. After that we told our mother to bring a local priest to spray holy water all over our house. After that they were gone. I asked the priest if these shadow people can cling to some people like the new maid we had and he confirmed my suspicion.

I taught myself as a teenager to regularly lucid dream. Now with over 30 years of experience I have great control within my dreams. I can smell, taste, feel, etc. My favorite part is being able to fly and do it well. I no longer fear nightmares because I don't feel defenseless and if I get killed I just wake up. Though sometimes when I wake up that way my real body will go into whatever motion or reaction I was having within the dream.

This episode had me in chills. How can sleep paralysis cause us to see the same thing or things. Back in 2012 my son wasn't even 1. having just come home from worked, worn out and fed up. I was happy to be home and took my son for a hug and cuddle. Not long we both fell a sleep in the living room. I could hear the door opening, naturally I thought it was my wife telling me to come into the bedroom before I hurt my back sleeping on the sofa, frozen and low level of pins a needels flowing over my chest downwards, I wasn't able to talk or move. A tall black figure entered the room with complete confidence, I could only watch as he walked towards the window looked outside and then snapped his head in my direction, one thing slightly different was as he he approached I managed to tell him he was not welcome in my house and God will protect my son. every instinct in me screamed this was a demon. I have had a waking paralysis experience once before as a kid, lasted 2 -3 but no feeling of fear.

Out of all the videos you've put out, and I've watched all of them, this one spoke out to me the most. Like everyone else here, I've experienced the shadow people. Long story short, I stayed over at my aunts home one night. It was late. It was roughly 3:02-3:10am (ghost time). Right as I laid down for bed and turned the lights off, at the corner of my eye was a mirror across from me, and I could see a black figure with red glowing eyes. This thing was in the mirror. You can sort of see a body about 5 ft tall. As I tried to get up from bed to turn on the lights, that figured turned into a dark cloud and rana across the wall to the foot of my bed. I was paralyzed from there and couldn't move. I felt like I was sinking into the bed as well. My cousins room was above me. I tried to scream, but nothing came out. I closed my eyes and prayed to God. What felt like 30 mins only happened for about 5 mins because by the time the incident stopped, I looked over at the clock, and it was only 3:15am. I closed my eyes and forced myself to sleep from there. I've had 3 ghost encounters in my life, and this one was by far the scariest one as it physically got on me 🫤

I used to have something similar that im quite convinced no one else had. At one point in my life I would randomly wake up in the middle of the night (every time at a different time) feeling a presence. I would wake up with my eyes closed too and I also wouldn’t go into paralysis. When I would wake up I would feel instant terror and that someone was standing next to me, over me starring. Sometimes I could feel their face up against mine. But what made it terrifying is that I could move, I could open my eyes if I wanted too. And it was almost as if whatever it was was taunting me to open my eyes. Sometimes I dared too and saw nothing. Other times I kept them shut. Now this is where it gets weirder: when I had my eyes shut, and felt the presence of the thing, I would see this static black and grey like pattern like if it was an old tv. One time I figured I’d start praying and and when I did that static in instantly turned into a bright white light (mind you with my eyes CLOSED) I would get chills and instantly feel peace and happiness. I would then feel the presence of another creature but this one felt positive, and good, and like it was there to protect me.

Call me crazy but this is the truth. On a Bible, I'd swear this. I've had two 👽 conversing in my bathroom one night at around 2am. My fathers dog woke me. She was staying with me, and I think they were unaware. If you'd like to know what they sound like, watch the movie The 4th Kind. Best I can explain it's that it's like hearing the unimaginable. Like an old tree has come to life. If I spoke Sumerian, I believe I'd know what they were saying. The movie gets it right. I already had my bedroom door barricaded, this wasn't my first rodeo with these child stealers. Im an adult now. Surprisingly, I looked at my father's dog(a Shitzu) and fell right back to sleep. Trust me, I've had deep thoughts about a kind of security device. For the protection of man kinds off spring. Just get your kids a 🐕 Let it sleep in their room. The more the merrier. ~Claus.

As a child I woke up in the middle of the night and only opened my eyes while not moving at all and saw a shadow person staring at me from my bedroom doorway. He and I didn’t move for at least 10-20 minutes, but the moment I moved an inch it left and didn’t make a sound. At the time I thought it was a robber so, I waited to hear anything but it was just silent the whole time, so I quietly checked the whole house only to find that no one was there and that nothing was opened or broken and both my parents were completely asleep. TLDR: so I had a staring contest with a shadow person who probably thought they had me paralyzed, so they can be tricked and probably don’t care how much you look around as long as you don’t move for some reason.

What blows my mind is on two occasions I had an old woman’s voice whispering loudly directly in my ear that the world will end in 2056. I tried to wake up my husband but, he sleeps like the dead. I ended up sitting up after much force and then my body convulsed. A.J. I want to thank you and everyone for sharing your stories. I as well have had an extremely similar experience. When I was around 9 years old I had an encounter with a shadow man with the hat. I remember I had just laid in bed for the night and I heard the front door open and close. I remember thinking it must be my grandfather. I quickly realized it was not my grandfather when I did not recognize the sound of the footsteps coming up the stairs. My bedroom door was at the very top of the stairs. I wanted to bang on my bedroom wall to get my grandmother's attention, but I could not move. I was paralyzed. I was so terrified, I couldn't move or make a sound. I just closed my eyes. I heard the door knob turn, and then the door opened and shut. I hear no other noise other then that but with my eyes still shut I felt someone there it was like I could feel this real heavy energy in my room. After about 5 seconds of just feeling like energy was being pulled out of my chest (I was laying on my back) I opened my eyes and saw a shadow man with a hat. Could not make out any features. I closed my eyes again right away. I could not make a sound, I couldn't move yell or scream. It then sat down on the bed next to me. My eyes were closed but FELT the bed sink down from the weight. I felt it lean over and felt its breath in my ear as it whispered calmly. "Shhhhh, I got you now." I still live in same house almost 35 years later. Different bedroom though 😅. Nothing close to that ever happend again.

This is one of my favourite channels. As someone who's seen several shadow people I feel compelled to point out that the sleep paralysis theory cannot explain away all shadow people. Some of us have experienced these figures while up and about, wide awake. I don't think all shadow people are the same type of phenomena or being. Most of the ones I've seen (always while wide awake, sometimes during the day) haven't invoked any negative feeling or fear in me. They've just felt like something popping in for a quick visit, or passing through. My two sisters and I have all seen a top hat man once while alone in our living room. None of us felt he was an evil entity. We're in Australia though- maybe he's more relaxed down here?

I haven't experienced this at night or sleep paralysis, I've experienced it always awake, always at certain times, which I keep praying on because I don't understand. I've experienced both non threatening more just always watching and a white feather just always shows up on myself or near me after, other times it's not the same one male like presence others have mentioned feeling and seeing around me, other ones I've seen thst were more negative and give off feeling bad gut instinctual feeling of not being of good intent. Writing this feels crazy, but msybd sharing my own experiences might help me learn more by others own similar and help me learn how to be more at ease or less crazy feeling that my imagination is just messing with me.

I was never afraid except once were I refused to even step thru the doorway of a homestead house from the 1920's(guessing from the build style). The door was rotted off the hinges, windows busted out and afternoon so light was streaming into the building. It felt like something evil was in the shadows staring at me, hated me, and if I dared to enter the doorway it was going to attack me. I took it as a warning from God and backed away. if that is what a shadow person encounter is I feel sorry for all that have gone thru that

I've had sleep paralysis and definitely felt a menacing presence. I have also seen a shadow person once, long before I had ever heard of shadow people. I was living in a guest house and I got up in the middle of the night to get some water. As I entered the kitchen I saw what looked like a 3 dimensional but translucent shadow of a person standing against the wall next to the fridge, almost as if it didn't want me to notice it. Not trusting my eyes, I slowly approached it. It was motionless. When I got a few feet away, still not trusting my eyes, I leaned in....and it quickly leaned back. I ran back to the bedroom, locked the door and stayed up the rest of the night. I have chills while writing this.

I had an encounter with a shadow figure. It lifted my legs up while I had two heavy blankets on me during the night and I could not replicate lifting my legs with that amount of weight during the morning. I flipped off the shadow person and told him I had a test the following morning and told it to fuck off. It then charged at me and grabbed my shoulders but I went back to sleep. This occured in 2013 in Germany and have never had another encounter like this.

I used to get sleep paralysis and would focus all my anger on moving. Think it worked once. Since then I have heard many people describe these shadow people during sleep paralysis and one thing has stood out in their accounts. The name of Jesus Christ, or whatever deity you have faith in, will put an end to the paralysis encounter. I don't recall anyone claiming it didn't work. Hope this helps anyone. Much love, joy and peace to you all.

I don't have sleep paralysis, but you know when you are going to sleep, and you feel like you see a shadow person always right at out of sight, but you don't. I could blame fear of darkness, and my imagination gets going. It's still terrifying though I am skeptical ghosts, and any illness you can't take a blood test for as well.

I didn’t see but sensed the shadow person and the energy was heavy & dark. I was hypnagogic (paralyzed) but clearly felt it sit on my bed and felt the mattress depress. I couldn’t scream but managed to make enough grunting noises to summon a roommate. I’ll never forget it. In retrospect, I feel I was under terrible stress at the time and had a very vivid dream.

This has happened to me as well. I turned my head towards the door, thinking my dog came in the room and got on my bed, but when I turned my head, the door was shut. I froze, feeling the weight of something sitting on the edge of the bed. I couldn’t move to look or turn my head back the other way. I felt the weight of it move onto my back and it stayed there until the sun started to come up. As soon as it lifted I ran to my dad’s room, legs still tingly and numb, completely hysterical. He had the house blessed after that.

So I went to college in Butte , Montana which is an old mining town for mining engineering (Montana Tech) . We rented this house on silver street ( 3 roommates altogether ) close to the campus - walking distance to class. The first day we moved in , 2 of us got the chest pressure attacked at night while sleeping (someone sitting on your chest) . The 3rd roommate always read his bible and didn’t have anything happened to him . The next day both of us went and bought bibles for our room . In that house , I have seen shadows , a blue orb floating in my room , cold zones etc . Another roommate moved in after the religious friend graduated, the first night , he got attacked with a dream of some lady with small pox . That was a very haunted house where all of us have stories and experience concerning the supernatural there . Watching this episode definitely brought back memories and interesting to see that this is a common experience around the world .

It's scary now that I've heard these stories because now I honestly think what I saw as a 6-year-old wasn't just my imagination but something like these Shadow People. I remember waking up at some time in the night to feel a presence in my room. I got scared because I knew it wasn't my parents so I instinctively, for a 6-year-old, hid under my blanket. I remember peaking and I saw this massive black shadow beside my bed. I don't know what type but it looked like it wore a large trench coat. At least to me. I hid under that blanket until morning came. I remember peaking and seeing the light of morning just before the sun rises and felt safe again. Was really terrifying and I still remember it today. I originally choked it up to over imagination of a child but who knows after hearing this?

The scary thing in your case was the fact that you were able to move and decided to hide under you're blanket, this shows that it wasn't 'sleep paralyse' but what you were experiencing was real, unexplainable and quite likely supernatural in nature.

Just my opinion, but when you remember something so intensely for so many years, there's more to it than just a dream. I woke up at that age and saw a man standing in the hallway looking at me. Parents were asleep and I was the only kid at the time. When I told my mom about it the next morning, she was amazed, I had described my grandfather who had passed when my mom was 12. I had never seen pics of him either at that age (I was 4 or 5). There were no pictures of him around. Funny, I remember just being curious, not scared. I have other reasons to think he's been around my whole life. I've also had other experiences like you talk about that were so terrifying. You just freeze in your bed and wait for morning.

My family lived with spirits my entire childhood, even after I left for the military. Trust me , everything in this video is child's play compared to what we lived with . I learned that no fear direct aggressive confrontation made them stop or leave. They are intelligent entities and respect bravery and authority.

@@davidr3548 God allowed my wife after her third day of death speak to me clearly and audibly. She said Pogo is here with me. I was shocked and didn't know what it meant, only later in the day I realized I hadn't heard that name in over 25 years. Pogo was her beloved cat when she was a child. That was a gift from God.
