Ty for this video picked up a horse shoe nail on my way home from riding iowa/Wisconsin river road. I figured it wouldn't be to hard but knew there where going to be obstacles so nice to watch someone else first!

Nails sure kill the joy of riding. I’m glad the video was able to help and enjoy the repairs. 😅

I was able to loosen muffler bracket and barely sneak axle by on my 2018 shadow aero , not sure if it was easier or worth risking tweaking exhaust but it worked!

Nicely done. Just remember… “There is no wrong way unless you don’t do it right” 😏

Few tips for you since you're 'not a motorcycle mechanic': When doing mechanical service on any motorcycle, always use a rubber shoe on the lift claw to insure it does not damage the frame paint on the bottom as this will cause future rust for the biker, you used that floor jack with out a protective cover on the claw/cup and it most definitely damaged the black paint. When removing the rear wheel, there is a simple method that doesn't require you to drop the suspension, to clear the tire after removing the needed parts, e.g drive shaft spacer, drive shaft, brake drum connectors, simply remove the bolts from the rear portion of the exhaust, then loosen the bolts at the rear cylinder bucket's exhaust port where the exhaust pipe connects, then raise the exhaust pipe up enough to allow shaft clearance, this allows you to clear the shaft and pull it out and then remove the wheel easily. Also before lifting up wheel and sliding it away from the drift shaft (Give it gentle wiggles to work loose), make sure you use blue painters tape to mask part of housing that is closest to the trailing arm's drive shaft and/or tape on a piece of cardboard onto the trailing arm so when the wheel's splines brake free it won't hit the brake drum housing against the trailing arm and dent/damage the paint. I hope this advice helps you advance as anyone man (or woman) with 2 wheels loves that bike like it's their baby and don't want accidental damage done to it during service, this also will help you improve the speed of servicing the rear brakes or tire/tyre. Use this video for an example (please note I also informed the KZbin uploader to use cardboard to protect the brake drum housing.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGHHaXZ7pr-HrsU Good luck.

More time perhaps, but I found it way easier to take off the muffler. It was a good chance to give the muffler a good cleaning in areas I can't reach or see as well.

Great series. What tires did buy and how do you like them? I haven't been a whitewall tire fan on cars but those look so good I may do the same for my 2007 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit.

Here’s the link for the tires I put on. I’m very happy with them and can’t wait for the weather to warm up. Shinko 777 Front Tire - Whitewall... www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2IJGQS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Shinko 777 Rear Tire - Whitewall... www.amazon.com/dp/B00T6J641U?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The wheel removal would be pretty much the same on an 1100 right?

Any chance you remember what size Allen the axle shaft needs? Or do I need on Allen to simply take the nut off?

I'm sorry my friend , but you should buy the shop manual , that is a pretty simple, you are doing things that you don't have to, but anyway nice bike, one of the best motorcycle I use to have one of those and aero model, and now I have a Suzuki c50 great machine, please don't get mad with my comment , but having the book you can do anything more easier, take care my friend

Thanks for the comment. I wanted some of this video to focus on trial and error. I feel a lot of people go head first into project like this and thought it would be nice to show things that don’t work along with some struggling while doing the repair. 😁

@@FLiPMOTiONS Can you send me the paint color? I just picked up a 2008 Shadow Spirit 750 in black. I believe I wanna paint my bike that color! Also what front turn signals you have and I’m assuming they are switch backs?
