The manual is very clear for a need for a break in period. I have an XR920. Used very thin oil for lubrication and 124 grain ammo for the first 200 rounds. Ran perfect.

There is a 200 round break in. I just bought one, shot yesterday day 1st round failed to pick up next round but after that it was 100%. I had Little gun cooking, I shot 700 rounds of 115 ball Remington and 100 124 grain blazer. 50 rounds of Winchester hollow points. Great gun! Recoil was way reduced! Love the gun

I think to break in you should run a little hotter ammo. This gun is tight from the factory. The manual actually says to use +P ammo

Agree. My MR920 doesn’t like 115 so I always run 124 and no issues ever. I can run 115 now since it’s very broken in but in the beginning it would not run well at all with it.

@rickl5757 I recently purchased a CR920p and it ran a little over 200+ rounds of 115 Winchester white box and luckily had no issues to report on. The gun shoots beautifully flat for a micro 9.

I disagree with people saying there is a 200 round break in, and that is the reason for the malfunction. No polymer striker fired gun should have malfunctions that frequently during the break in period. It is well known that S&B manufacturers handgun ammo to higher pressures than other manufacturers. That leads me to believe that the gun is oversprung, leading to it not running correctly with weaker UMC bulk ammo. I suspect that the gun will run any ammo once the recoil spring loses a bit of poundage through regular shooting. Either way, the frequency of malfunctions is not acceptable.

I completely agree with you. That's why I like being transparent in my reviews to show what to expect with bulk ammo which most people shoot. You can tell with lower grade ammo it struggles more. But I don't think there should be much of a break in at all in a firearm. Thank you for watching!

I have two of them, Bronze and Black Barrel versions. I had 1 FTF in the first 450 rds of my Bronze but having a trigger issue and waiting for SS to send me the parts. My Black Barrel version I ran 452 rds through it and had zero issues. I ran 115, 124, 108, 147g ball and JHP, both feed everything I ran with the one exception. Great firearm, could be a break in issue getting through the first couple hundred rounds. I have had similiar issues with a couple of my other SS firearms to include my CR920 but once I got past the break in of 100-200 rds, I had no other issues.

I took my 929p to the range yesterday and had the same exact experience. 150 rounds of 3 different kinds of 115gr and it was a constant failure to feed, failure to eject, and stove pipes. I know there is a break in but still disappointing as none of my other pistols have an issue with this ammo. Especially to this extent. I plan to run some 124 and 147 through it this weekend. If it continues to have issues I’m going to contact SS. Hoping wishing and praying it’s a break in period.

While Shadow Systems does say that their guns need break in period, I do believe your issue to be an ammunition problem. If you look at the ejection pattern of the Remington over the S&B, the Remington ammo is all over the place. The S&B is very consistent. I'm not a fan of Remington ammo based on my personal experience. Especially their .22 ammo. Even though the price is usually better on a fair amount of their calibers, I refuse to buy it because it just isn't that great.

The nose-up FTFs are the slide not going quite all the way back. This is definitely a bit of a break-in thing BUT it's for sure the ammo (the brass wasn't flying out near as far as the S&B). S&B is a bit hotter, but I'd still shoot decent 124gr for the first 500rds (S&B, Federal AE, etc.) before trying to fire any weaker bulk 115gr stuff. I broke mine in with a mix of 115 Fed AE and 124 Fed AE, and now it will shoot the weakest stuff I have (Magtech 115).

This guy has little clue what's going on, keep saying the slide is not going all the way back... that should give you a clue that the recoil spring is still stiff, you also need an hotter round not cheap round and manufacturer also recommends at least 200 rounds for the brake in period. That said, when the gun is not in use, keep the slide on a slide lock for several days, this will help loosen up the recoil spring...don't try to compare a compensated gun to a non compensated.... get educated before you do or say stupid things.
