this dungeon terrified me as a kid. so eerie and unsettling vibes all over. well designed for a map meant to serve as a grim, blood soaked and horrifying discovery and reminder of the Shiekahs bloody & brutal dedication to guarding the Hyrulian Family.

One thing I’ve really appreciated in the Shadow Temple and Arbiters Grounds is that it shows how the Royal Family isn’t too squeaky clean either. They’ve been in charge of some pretty horrendous things in the past as well. Excellent storytelling without too many words needed. It’s badly needed in newer Zelda games.

I think the fire sanctuary from SS has a storytelling from it's architecture, design, puzzles and i think is meant to be the original keep from Eldin the dragon

I love how the song play in progression as Link would progress through the dungeon itself! From the beginning you hear Link play the Nocturne Of Shadow, light the torches and enter the temple. All the way to the end when the song slowly fades out only to reveal the bongos getting louder and louder... He made it to Bongo Bongo.
@gavinclark21852 жыл бұрын
2:35 You can hear the guillotines moving up and down in the background AWW THE DETAILS No seriously the progression through the dungeon is incredible From link playing the nocturn of shadow to enter the temple to Zelda’s lullaby and the chiming bells on the fairy ride

3:25... I never before realized that this song is a play on Zelda's Lullaby, but I can now never un-hear it. This is horribly unsettling, and I love it.
@SilverIV Жыл бұрын
The entire dungeon follows the progression of the dungeon itself, and towards the end of it you have to play Zelda's lullaby to make a floating ship with bells travel to the last part of the dungeon, the part that bongo bongo resides in. In a stroke of genius, Fingelion put zelda's lullaby in, then had bells ring like in the game before the ship starts to move and then the drums get more and more intense, BY THE NAME OF HYLIA I LIKE THIS TRACK.
@FUNKTION_04 Жыл бұрын
Of course, but I was mainly just getting at the first 3 notes of the Shadow Temple music just being a dark twist of Zelda's Lullaby. Sleep well, Princess. Sleep while the Sheikah quietly deal with those that threaten your kingdom.

Ya know the temple itself didn’t scare me as a kid. But the things inside it did. - dead hand - wall masters making the creepy ass sound as they drop from above - redeads coming out of coffins

for me it was getting jumpscared by those skull baskets you have to throw bombs into. the 3DS version made them way less unsettling unfortunately

Same lmao, I had to put this game down for almost two weeks because both the Bottom of the Well and Temple scared the absolute hell out of me. The monsters were horrifying enough on their own, Dead Hand especially, but what really stopped me from playing was the creepy ass music. Pretty sure I was afraid of the dark for awhile before I finally got brave enough to best this deathtrap. As a kid this Temple was he bane of my existence, but as an adult it's one of my favorite Temples. Plus the theme is perfect for listening to during Spooky Month.

i love this...instead of just being a "scary loop", i can actually hear the Progression through the temple...the silence, broken only by a single bell, to represent the Ghost Ship; the bongos getting louder toward the end, to represent the Boss... the only 'bad news' is that i doubt ill ever hear This Version in a Nintendo-Official release, but id love to have a modded version of the game that uses This music instead...

How on earth does Link not question Impa about the shadow temple or the well being torture chambers?? Can you imagine Link saying "Say Impa, I went into this well, and there were these weird long neck monsters that spazzes up to people, and zombie things in there. Did you turn these criminals into these things?" "Eh, lets not tell the public who are completely oblivious to this".

Zelda's OST's are pretty much always incredible, but I miss when Nintendo has enough guts to include something like this which is basically just dark ambient with hardly any melody at all. May as well be a Lustmord track or something. Fantastic ambience.

The beginning and I think another part of the theme bares a leitmotif from Zelda's Lullaby in the original game; this is meant to symbolize the Hyrulean Royal Family's ties to the dungeon.
