There is an explanation for this, and its pretty simple. Shadow uses the way the human brain works for his benefits, that is. As Beatrix ignores the rain to concentrate on Shadow, Shadow merges with the rain, making him look like he actually disappeared but in reality as you saw after, he just walks but the brain decides to ignore it as it believes is useless data such as the rain drops. Another example of usage of this technique is seen in Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry, where one of the characters does exactly the same tho she just walks directly to the enemy and by the time the brain stops ignoring useless data the girl is already in front of the opponent without noticing herself but everybody else does. Pretty cool to be honest.

Idk if I remember correctly but iris never really fought an equal or stronger opponents before so like when cid does atomic the first one she just thinks it's an artifact because there is no one who can have that amount of magic without an artifact because she uses an artifact herself and the destructive of it is quite strong plus there's might be stronger artifact out there tbh plus she overconfident that she can win cuz her ego is that high when she get absolutely crushed by cid/shadow she just couldn't accept the fact that she lost and was so mad at him

A thing that many people unoticed, when Shadow about to use his final atomic move, Alexia can 100% feel the magic, hence the "even if i die..." But even so she still train her way of fighting and hold her sword. Iris in the other hand, she imidiately became despair and dropped her sword. That alone already make Alexia a better warrior than Iris

I love this episode. Shadow is amused by their attempts to beat him. The whole fight is a game for him... until... The moment Iris implies Shadow has to run he finds the idea of retreat from people so far beneath him it makes him angry. In that one moment of rage he gives them both a glimpse of that he COULD do if he was serious. It must have been a huge wake up call, a slap in the face and a kick to their pride for both ladies to see they fought as hard as they could and he was only playing with them the whole time. He could have erased that entire city at any moment and they both know it. Such a badass scene

So she recruits him into her squad but apparently the guy was just another cult dog spreading lies. So she grabs into that story because of her hate of shadow. Opinion: The hate she gonna get is gonna be mild, just know that she doesn't know anything about shadow garden and everything shadow garden has done is unexplained so ofcourse they're gonna be antagonised. Her actions are reasonable, and shadow garden ain't helping clear that story up, even shadow himself doesn't help clear that up. Shadow garden is in no one's side.
