Wow - thanks for such clear, patient, easy to follow instructions! As someone mentioned below, your excellent camera work made all the difference too. I just finished a trial heel using larger gauge yarn to try this out before i try it on my first sock and it worked! Really amazing to me - i was stumped before your video. I am excited to try it out tomorrow on my first real sock of fingerling self-striping yarn (which has been waiting for its heel for over a week). Thank you!

That was a great tutorial of the heel, thank you. Was painful to watch your knitting style though, so labour intensive! 😄

Oh my goodness! You are the only other person I have ever found who knits like me. I hold my yarn in my left hand and throw it for both knit and purl stitches. I have wondered if it is maybe because I learned to crochet first, or because I was taught to knit English style by a Portuguese knitter. Anyway, thanks for sharing this tutorial!

I taught myself to knit from a book years ago, and now this is just the way I knit. Nice to know there are others out there too.

I was going to add the same comment! Never saw anyone who knits like I do - I too taught myself more than 50 years ago and I think because I learned to crochet first I naturally held the yarn in my left hand. I tension the yarn the same way you do too. I find this to be a very fast way to knit and I’ve never had any pain in my wrists like my English knitting friend do.

VERY interesting! I have just started using the Shadow Wrap heel. I had been doing the feegle heel. But i like the finished look of this one better. Thank you.

I’m doing toe up for the first time and wanting to do something other than GSR or the Eye of partridge (which I like how it’s reinforced but now how unflattering it looks). I tried to understand the FLK but was totally overwhelmed by the instructions-so now I’m trying this per others instructions. I suspect conquering this heel will help me understand FLK. Thanks for this tutorial (and bought the pattern, too)!

P.S. I love the fast forward sounds…takes me back to childhood and VCR’s. 😂

It is similar to FLK heel, I hope it helps.

Amazing tutorial. I’m a new knitter and inly have done 3 pairs of socks. I tried shadow wrap but was not entirely sold but with this video I will try again. I enjoy toe up socks. Could you please make a fleegel heel tutorial?

Thank you for this excellent tutorial! I am curious, though: Does the triple stitch create much bulk at the seamline?

It is a little thicker, but I have never noticed any discomfort in shoes.

Do you have to divide the stitches or do knit all of them
@justlivindesigns5 ай бұрын
@@sallycunningham9608 the heel is worked over half the total stitches of the sock. So, for 64 stitch count it would be worked over 32 stitches.

How do you know its time to start the heel? Do you count how many rows the heel should have by count how many stitches you have of the nidle?
@justlivindesigns Жыл бұрын
That information is in my paid for patterns, this tutorial is just to walk you through how to actually knit the shadow wrap heel, the way that I knit it in my patterns.

Very interesting, how do I get the pattern?
@justlivindesigns Жыл бұрын
For the simple pattern, you can get in on Ravelry. www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/shadow-wrap-heel-socks-2-ways Or if you don't have Ravely I have links to my stores on LoveCrafts and PayHip in the about section on my Channel. I used this heel in many of my patterns.
