Now you can play this game on ps4. There's a pack called "8-bot anthology volume 1". It comes with shadowgate, uninvited and deja vu. There are even trophies for all 3 games.

Speedruns the game in 35 minutes with 5 hours worth of torches remaining. Meanwhile, "can't stop to read the chat" because he's worried he won't finish in time...

The torches are not based on a timer but how many actions you do, so you can just leave the screen idle and they won't burn out.

Shadowgate is perhaps one of my favorite games, Sad I missed the stream now. You should play Uninvited too! Maybe throw Deja Vu 1 and 2 in there just because :)

Best part is the ability to save and the lack of a timelimit in those games. Love shadowgate, but there'd be less hectic pacing while playing the others.

The game is all about trial and error, to find out exactly what the game wants from you at each point, to progress through the game. If you know all the answers to each problem, like Mike did, it's a breeze. If you don't, and refuse to cheat and look them up, it's a real pain in the ass, especially since the game punishes you for doing trial and error, which is the only way to get through the game.

As someone who played throuh this game dozens of times, I can tell ya you dont have to rush through it at all that quickly. Those torches last for a long time and you get soo many. :P

I had shadowgate for gameboy when I was a kid and I never beat it. I had a notebook filled with notes on all the previous pathways I took and died on. It was so fun though haha

I think I made it to the waterfall and not a room further, in my youth. I remember being so frustrated that I traded the game for The Battle of Olympus.

Fantastic game! Loved it as a teenage kid! Been about 30 years since I played. Awesome seeing the play through! A lot of people don’t know the pattern for the 3 levers in the room with the hole. Is etched in order on the wall behind the riddle Sphinx! This game is the epitome of the term “nes hard”.

The NES version was a good port, exists too "Shadowgate classic" for gameboy color how a re-release, only add better graphics and multiple languages (italian, french, german and spanish), incluiding english The original port was for Macintosh in 1987, was a great game

This game was freaking awesome. One of my favorite NES titles for sure. I really wish they would bring back this kind of game. I love cryptic puzzle shit like this. At least remake the game for the Switch, that would be awesome.

I love the MacVenture games, and this was definitely my favorite. You should look into "infested" too. Not as deep as the MacVenture games, but it's free and worth a playthrough.

In saints row 4 when your saving matt miller there's this game play just like shadowgate in saints row 4. I really liked that part of the game. Is there other nes games just like shadowgate.

Great playthrough, Mike! One of my favourite NES games. you should do a stream of you playing Uninvited or Deja Vu, and perhaps do them without practicing first. You could ask the chat for help whenever you get stuck. I think it would be a great experience. :-)

Deja Vu was quite hard in that you had to figure out how not to incriminate yourself at the end by throwing away certain things into the sewer, and planting certain things at people's houses.
