Rafael maybe a side character now and we may never get to see him again, but I will forever love ma Boi. 2 times out of the grand total of 4 times I have cried watching this show, it was due to this sweet bun and Rosa. The sweetest friend anyone would want, the best brother everyone needs. He lives happily in Alicante in the best conditions, due to Alec (a scene they obviously forgot to mention) and gets to meet Magnus every year. And you can not change my mind.

When is watched this Ep a while back and heard Magnus speaking Bahasa Indonesian, as an Indonesian myself..I couldn’t help but to rewind and rewatch the scene. When I watched the show for the first time, I didn’t know that Magnus is Indonesian (born in the Dutch-Indies/modern day Jakarta whatever), so I was so excited to hear some Indonesian representation in American shows. I was crying but also laughing at the same time. The way Magnus spoke “Kepalaku. Tolong banyu aku. Itu menyakitkan” was so 🤔 Trust me, I love Harry Shum Jr. And Magnus Bane to death, but the script is just so awkward and a bit weird? Maybe it’s because Magnus is old that his bahasa is extremely formal, but especially “menyakitkan.” When you say your head hurts, usually you use “sakit,” like “kepalaku sakit banget” or something along those lines. In my opinion, Menyakitkan is just so unnecessaryly formal. Menyakitkan is usually used for like saying “painful” and I guess it works for this situation, but idk it’s just like the ending, “-kan,” is used to make things formal. Any other Indonesians out there that understands me? Anyway, whatever. I’m just so happy to see some Indonesian representation in American shows.

I forgive him for having such strong American accent, but goddamn. whoever writing that script clearly doesn't know how Indonesian worked. that's such a formal Indonesian, it hurts my ears. no one speaks like that in Indonesia, guys. come on... it's like you're English and then you heard English written way back in the day. we have formal, only-for-science-journal, stiff Indonesian and everyday-lingua franca Indonesian. oh man, my poor Magnus. my Indonesian blood wept for his. ignoring the fact that he's born from 1600s, there were no Indonesian language at that time. technically he should be talking in Dutch or a mother language; it can be a Betawi, Javanese or Sundanese because those three were the native people who lived in Batavia at 1600s. Indonesian was invented just before our independence around 1930s borrowing a lot from Malay. also if he were to say anything from ancestor of Indonesian it would be an Old Malay. which would be soooo different.
