I remember watching the movie and being really disappointed for a number of reasons like a) Izzy was not how I expected Izzy to be at all- she seemed like she was 25 at least! b) Jace didn't really seem to be some kind of super warrior c) Clary really annoyed me and a loot more. When I first started watching the show, I was really disappointed in the cast (except for Alec) because the rest didn't match my imagination (but the TV cast was still WAY better than the movie cast). Then I watched the TV show and realised that the cast fit into their roles in a very magical way. I'm in love with the TV show now (Especially Matt and Harry)

The Lightwood siblings from the show are more like I imagined them from reading the books, but otherwise I vastly prefer the movie cast. Jamie is the perfect Jace, he got the charm, the cockiness, the rockstar attitude, everything. And his chemistry with Lily was (obviously) great. I also loved Aidan Turner as Luke and movie Hodge was much more like in the book. Simon was good in both, but Robert Sheehan is just a really funny guy and I love his interviews. The only choice I wasn't sold on in both the movie and the show was Valentine. I imagined him quite differently to both actors. He was too old for the role, but just from his energy more someone like Jeremy Irons.

Harry is legit the best Magnus they could find, he just gives off the vibe, attitude, appearance, everything. Matt is a wonderful Alec, and they work so well all together. Kat naturally has the same flaming red hair Clary has, and overall, they all are pretty darn close. In my opinion, the show cast just fits the books alot better.

The TV show cast looks exactly as described in the book. Clary is supposed to be a petite red head with wild curly hair and big green eyes, Lily Collins is a talk brunette with olive skin she looks NOTHING like Clary. I've read every single Cassandra Clare book (tmi, tid, tda, tbc etc etc etc.) and I've watched the TV series and the movie. I honestly prefer the TV series to the movie, whilst it isn't 100% true to the book (and the movie isn't either), I feel like it was a lot more entertaining and interesting than the movie. I don't know, I just really love both the books and the TV series. And, let's not forget, the TV series is only BASED on the book series. It doesn't promise to be 100% accurate in every way. In my opinion at least it's still really good. Also, I REALLY love how hilarious and close the Shadowhunters cast is. I feel like that really adds to the experience of watching the TV show, knowing how funny and friendly they are with each other. And the Malec in Shadowhunters is amazing, Isabelle is stunning, Simon is PERFECT and I actually really like Kat as Clary. But, everyone's entitled to their opinion :)) (okay, semi-rant over)

I felt that Season 1 was a bit rushed, but you can't blame them cause they only had 13 episodes to develop the characters and the plot. But all of Season 2 was even better than the first. I hope for even better things for Season 3 cause they left so many cliffhangers at the end of Season 2!
