RIGHT?!! I can hardly believe that wasn't in the script!! Dominic didn't remember the original line and then decided to say something that made history for us Shadowhunters fans. He made everything so much more dramatic, sad, and romantic, and I just can't thank him enough for that. He's such a great actor -- like everyone. Kat and Matthew (I say his real name only because it would rhyme otherwise. Oof.) actually looked like they were so devastated by Jace's... Death. Thank the Angel that Clary brought him back!! Wait, I had a point... Right. Everyone's acting was perfect, so much so that it shattered my heart and put it all back together again. Love them so much ❤ and hey, this scene was part of something that's completely worth fighting for. #SaveShadowhunters!! THIS IS #NotOurLastHunt!!!

@@dylanleff373 a major character arc of Alec's is learning to be okay with his emotions and not to repress them in order to function in his environment. It makes sense that when introduced to a trauma like that, he would immediately go back to old habits and repress the flood of emotions that he can't control in order to move on with the mission. Additionally, numbness is a very common immediate reaction to grief, it comes with the denial.

sorry but I find Matt's acting in this scene really bad, there was no tears, no real emotion, it was pretty flat, unlike Kat's performance, you can actually see her emotions and heartbreak. Matt not so much.

@@iamlinda100, actually, as someone that almost lost my significant other and suffered from pretty bad PTSD afterwards, Alec's reaction feels closer to how I initially responded than Clary's. Not to say Kat's not an amazing actress, but "freezing" and being lost / confused / in shock also happens. Especially when you don't know what's happening, and/or there's no sense of "closure" to the situation. In my case, I witnessed a life threatening ski accident and, until I could reach him, I had no way of knowing if he was still breathing or dead. So, after that initial feeling of the ground being violently pulled from under you, losing your breath, everything becoming silent and your senses going numb for a few seconds, there's an adrenaline rush and a sense of urgency to act / investigate the situation / figure out what part of what you perceived is real / etc. I never started crying until I got back home, after having spent about 8 hours in the hospital, knowing that he was okay, fully seemed to have recovered from the head trauma (that helmet saved his life), and the only lasting damage would be a broken leg. Alec has no idea what's happening. He feels Jace dying, but the shock of it comes from nowhere, and Clary's still out there. Is he actually dead or is it one of Valentine's tricks? Are they both dead? What's going on? Heck! Is Valentine about to make a wish to Raziel and exterminate the whole downworld, taking Magnus with it? He's just had part of his soul violently ripped from him and has totally lost his footing (both figuratively and physically). Give him a moment to figure out what it means, and what's happening, before he can mount any other type of emotional response. That reaction is extremely relatable and downright superb! If you guys are trying to make it an acting competition / rivalry, knock yourselves out! But Clary is watching the man she loves slowly dying in front of her while begging him to stay. She understands what's happening, and there's nothing she can do (for now) to stop it. Her emotional response fits with her unique context the same way Alec fits with his. If I'd found my love dead when I finally managed to get to him (with the way he was positioned, with one leg bent in two places beneath him and the head twisted to the side with a displaced and banged up helmet, he looked like he'd broken his neck, but started moaning and try to turn on his back after I touched him), I'd have broken down, too. But in the context I was in, especially being a nurse, my instincts were to assess the severity of the situation and do all I could before letting myself feel small, powerless and desperate to the point of crying. So yeah, as far as I'm concerned, great performances all around. It's easier to emotionally connect with Alec for me, but that's in no way the actress' fault. It's just closer to my own experience, that's all.

This scene was amazing and heartbreaking at the same time. I love the song choice and the Parabatai flashbacks just killed me! I wish we could have more focus on the Parabatai Bond in the future! There's no such thing as parabatai in other shows, it's a unique concept, so it would be really interesting to see it explored further. However, my favourite thing about this scene was definitely the Clace moment. A++ acting from Kat and that improvised "I love you" perfectly fits the moment!

Don’t deny it, I’m crying, you’re crying, we’re all crying. All actors played their parts beautifully, I t’s just so intense and powerful and heartbreaking, from Alec’s reaction to feeling Jace die, Clary’s desperation and shock written all over her face as Jace dies in her hands, you can clearly see her world falling apart that very moment. Magnus’ quick assistance as Alec collapses and the worried look etched on his ace because he knows how much Jace means to Alec, they’re parabeti after all. Izzy’s sadness having lost a brother and even Valentine, he doesn’t seem to evacuate the scene, rather stand in silence as to pay respect to Jace. I don’t think I’ve appreciated Jace much until he was gone. Having watched Shadowhunters over and over again, I am still wholly and utterly torn by this scene. It makes me sad to think that essentially if someone dies and comes back to life, they are inevitably more dark and bloodier than before, as shown later on in the series. Jace has already been through so much, he didn’t deserve this. None of them did. Imagine your lover/best friend/brother or friend dying in your arms or you feel their death. I don’t think I could handle it. You probably wouldn’t either. You’re out into shock that they’re actually gone and now you act like they’re not in the world anymore. The pain is so raw and you can’t think of a world without them in it. I hope no one’s come across this before but if you have, I am dearly sorry for your loss. I hope you get through this, it will not be easy and you’ll blame others or yourself but time will heal all 💔💔

i cried at this scene my mom walked in the room to me crying then looks at the Tv and was like oh. they finally killed off jace. why are you crying you know this was gonna happen? then sat down to enjoy my suffering. although thats the second time she walked in the room when jace dies and me balling she did almost the same thing a few weeks prior when he died in the books, but i cried a whole lot more for the book because it was so much sadder.

This is one of my fav scenes it's so beautiful and emotional, I love this series finale! I love that Clary could ask anything from the Angel and she wanted Jace to live again. I love that their relationship did not rushed at all. And I love Cassandra for writing a fantasy book series with not only straight, but with gay, important characters too. Can't wait for season 3! I hope this show will have at least 7 seasons and always stays this good, not like The Vampire Diaries.

i said this in another video but i'll repeat it cause noticing it gave me goosebumps 0:56 the secuence there where Alec screams, next thing to happen is that moment of Jace hugging and comforting him while he (Jace) suffers because Alec is suffering. Of course is that scene from that other episode, but its so well place there! cause placing it there you can read it as he is crying cause he is dying but he is more concerned about Alec than himself, he is sad that Alec is going to feel half dead the rest of his life with this and just hugs him trying to protec him from that

I love that even though Magnus was acting all salty towards Alec the entire episode once he saw his man in pain he immediately goes from What do you want Shadowhunter!? to "Alexander, you ok?" Sorry not Sorry Malec steals every scene they're in, this is suppose to be a major Clace moment with Jace dying and finally saying I love you for first time to Clary and instead its like oh no Poor Alec precious one is in pain, Magnus heal him with your magical love please. I felt bad for Clary I do but I felt worse for Alec I just I badly wanted Magnus to kiss Alec's tummy where the rune hurt to make him feel better or try and heal Jace though Alec by touching the rune Lmao Honestly Malec should have been the main story the show would have been a lot better if they weren't a side ship but the main ship
