Christine! You forgot to mention how Valentine said: "You couldn't kill your falcon when you were a child, how could you kill me?" (EP. 9, I think) I laughed so hard I had to pause the show and take a second to just regain my composure. Why are they trying so hard with the falcon reference? I suppose to please book fans but honestly, it's just making a scene that is supposed to be serious and tense and making it just weird and cringey.

My favorite moment of the party was when Max was rude to Jace and things got tense and Magnus just kind of looked off to the side and slipped out of it like "nope not in this" his face as he slipped away was on point.

I don't remember to whom Jace said it to. But he said something like: "I'll die if the mortalsword is activated, because I have demon blood in me too" So if the sword is activated won't Sebastian die then? Would Valentine want that to happen? I don't think so? Is this something they did on purpose to create a dilemma for Valentine, or is it just a plot hole?

It's probably just a plot hole, they just used it as an escuse for jace to bluff to valentine. I just think they are making show Valentine not know that Jace has angel blood and that he was the accident and not clary because if he knew he would have used jace to activate the sword awhile ago

My theory about the sword: Clary touching the sword actually raises Sebastian from "Hell"? His origin is a bit different in the show. Though of course he'll only be shown as he was in the vision given by Ithuriel, so they don't know upon meeting him in 2B, not disguised but using a fake identity. Remember how the Soul Sword was right next to him as he dissolved into thin air? In the promo Valentine said he was doing this for her; that could be for his twisted reasons, but I guess being reunited with her real brother wouldn't be that bad...if he weren't Sebastian. 🤣 I can't wait for the finale!

I still prefer the show because at least in the show the characters are close to the book characters; the movie adhered better to the plot, the show adheres better to the characters. Movie Magnus was an exposition vehicle without pants on.

The yin fen storyline is disappointing to me - like you said *they should've called it something else* so that book readers don't associate it with the deadly drug we know from The Infernal Devices....the fact that an addict can be weaned off within weeks makes it seem less frightening than it should be - they could've taken this storyline to some really interesting places, but they chose to make it something that you can easily be weaned off again for the sake of convenience....they're allowed to have their characters struggle for more than five episodes !!!

ThoughtsOfALeo I actually find this to be a real flaw in the show...they're always trying to fix everything immediately instead of keeping the suspense..just like with Alec and the parabatai tracking in 2x03 - for the sake of convenience, Luke just happened to have some adamas lying around in the Jade Wolf...I just wish that they'd let their characters struggle more - especially with the yin fen. I really, really wanted it to be almost as difficult for Izzy as it was for Jem in TID, but no they found an easy loop hole out of it

Kimmy Libus Simon didn't become a daylighter because of Jace's nephilim blood!! He became a daylighter because, Jace was tested on as a unborn child with Ithuriel's blood which is why Jade's blood made him a daylighter (he has advanced blood). It was explained in the books btw, because vampires kill and drink shadowhunter blood all the time which means there would be thousands of day lighters if what you said was the case.

it frustrates me that they keep trying to make the stakes super high and it JUST DOESNT WORK its not like they can kill one of the main 6 while trying to please book people and even then IT WOULDNT MAKE SENSE TO KILL YOUR MAIN CHARACTERS WHEN THEYRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR ARC, just write engaging scenes and scenarios that dont envolve your main characters almost dying cause it gets boring and repetitive and harder to see past the bullshit

True. Though I do feel like her death was kind of more for the shock value than any impact on the characters -- I understand we see Four torn up about it, but it didn't seem that impactful. Then again, I am a bit biased because I didn't love the Divergent series or Tris and Four much, so there's that. Also, like you said it doesn't make sense for them to kill off one of the mains if they want so many seasons. Also, there's going to be 20 episodes this season I believe. Next episode is the "winter finale" and then they're coming back in the summer with ten more episodes to finish off season 2 -- I'll leave the link at the bottom of this. Seriously man, what the hell are they doing with this show. I am so fnkg dissapointed with it. When I heard they were going to make a tv show because the movie sucked big time I had so much hope. But now watching this.. Even the writer Cassandra Clare doesn't like it, you should read her interview with Barns & Nobel. These people are not concentrating enough on the books. They are looking a bit into the books and making things up. THAT IS NOT OK! This just isn't a good running show anymore. It doesn't make any sense. Either follow the books strictly, or do not at all, because this way it isn't even an entertaining show to watch. I know there are some moments in the books that are probably gonna appear in the show aswell. BUT THEY ARE NOT BUILDING UP TO THAT POINT. Climon isn't even this fkng big. Yes it happend, but it was just because Clary wanted to give Simon a chance. But right now she is just FK deeply in love?? what the hell. That scene at the seelie-court where Jace and Clary are gonna kiss is probably gonna happen, but it won't even have a fucking meaning if they are not building onto that point. seriously, I think I have finally come to the conclusion that I don't like this show and will not recommend it to anyone. The Seelie Court scene has been confirmed for s2B - but I think they're waiting to do it until Jace knows Clary isn't his sister, but she will still be dating Simon and will end up in that dilemma of "who should I choose to kiss??" I think the show should def add more book content, but it's alright that they've made changes

I've totally separated the books and the show so I love them both, some moments in the show were a bit cringy, like when Simon punched Valentine and Valentine's head just kept going back and then bouncing forward, like a bobble head, that wasn't great but overall I really am enjoying the show, especially with the new writers, little Madzie is soooo cute I just can't cope, have you seen the trailer/teaser for the next episode, the moment between Madzie and Magnus? I was trying my BEST to be optimistic for this show. I want this show to succeed so BADLY. I enjoyed season one of the show to an extent, but for a while I wasn't sure if I was going to continue because I was sceptical about continuing when Season 2 was announced. I HONESTLY don't even know where they are going with the story. I've gotten over the fact that they're not going off the story from the books, which is fine with me. But it doesn't even seem like the writers know where they are going with the story. Wait let me rephrase that, its seem like they know where they know where to take the show, but they just know HOW to get there and they're just adding all these weird moments, and adding these mini stories of relationships and minor problems with these weird dialogues, and bizarre out of place events as filler in order to make it interesting. IDK I'm trying my best to stay positive.

I think Maia had every right to feel justified in wanting Clary dead People might say she's OOC because"oh noes, she's a 'sympathetic' downworlder, as in, a total doormat for our shadowhunter heroes to walk all over, not like those meanies Rufus and Meliorn". What I really hated was that Clary kicks her ass WAY TOO EASILY and the SFX sucks so bad and then she stands there, all smug and bragging about summer camp - the scene neuters Maia as a physical threat from now on AND makes Clary into a Mary Sue b*tch, because really, this just stinks of "I'M AWESOME, DAMMIT!" How are we expected to get mad at shadowhunters of the Clave for lording their superiority over the Downworld and mundanes and not call out our protagonist on doing the exact same thing? I think this scene is supposed to be part of the buildup of Clary becoming a badass action heroine and make the fans more eager to project themselves onto her. It doesn't hurt that Isabelle is relegated to the sidelines, either [not that her plot isn't interesting(it is)]. Lastly, Jace is a lying liar who lies. Just had to get that out.

My favorite scene from episode 8 was when maryse revealed to alec that she thinks robert is cheating on her that was so emotional i felt like that scene was written in words in a novella also from episode 9 when simon was telling clary that he feels that moment is like TFIOS and then clary said that's not the plot of the story 😂😂😂 and my second favorite scene but it hurt me too much when izzy has told alec she wasn't a child anymore and responsible for her actions and she left him alone that broke me into many pieces feeling pity for alec i like alec in the show better than the books Matt Daddario is the perfect match for being alec

I think Valentine kidnapping Simon is a good thing because it may lead to the jace-simon boat thing and then the dayligter arc

In episode 8 Ioved when Magnus is protecting clary like telling her to stay that felt very bookish Magnus to me. And episode 9 when Jace walked in on Clary and Simon and he blows the horn that felt very Jace like even though that never happens.

I enjoyed Episode 8 because of its primary focus on the rune ceremony, but Episode 9 was all over the place for me. I was frustrated at Izzy, Maia, Luke, Clary...overall, I enjoy Season 2 much better in terms of production and reduction in cringeworthy moments.

Alejandra Franco ********warning spoiler!!!!********* you have the charcters mixed up vampires can only turn into daylighters if they drink from clary or jace because they have extra Angel blood in them thanks to Valentine's experiments

well simon becomes a daylighter not because of the shadowhunter blood, but because jace has ithuriels blood in his veins as well =)

it doesn't have to do with normal shadowhunter blood. To turn into a daylighter you have to drink the blood of someone with extra angel blood.

I am actually beginning to ship Raphael and Isabelle which I slightly hate myself for because in the books I don't even think they have any dialogue together! I agree that Maya attacking Clary was out of character, and I still don't know how I feel about this new Madzie plot line. Right when I am beginning to believe the show is becoming similar to the books something happens that changes everything. Some of the lines and scenes were unexpected like when Alec attacked Raphael for biting Isabelle, Raphael was bleeding! How can vampires bleed? I did get really excited about Max coming back! Maryse just acts so unbookish to me I don't like it, and how did Alec just guess that Robert was cheating? That was weird to me. PS: You should read 13 reasons why before it comes out on netflix! I promise it is not as dark as you may think just because suicide is involved. It is really good and eye opening!

I read so many negative comments down below n I'm like: I actually like how they do the show, not wholesome because I do notice the changes from the books but it's pleasurable enough to be like: Woah, that was a good episode. I dunno : /

idk what that raphael/izzy romance is but i literally hate it so much. lol like i was screaming at my tv like "noOooOo." i like the maia/simon relationship but i'm ready for the simon/izzy/maia thing. and then seeing the simon/clary like in real life made me GAG. in the book i was so anti-climon so just seeing it on the tv screen made me have SHIVERS.
