recently got the dub version to season 5 and seeing as there was a lot more interactions between Macaque and Wukong this season and being a big fan of Shadowpeach thought it be fun to put them together.

Wanted to tack on as someone who is Chinese - sworn brothers, sworn sisters, and sworn siblings could also be your spouse. The reason they said sworn [insert title] was to avoid being found out as an actual couple due to it not being allowed and still isn't. So they have to word it to make it sound like they were just friends/saw each other as siblings to people.

In the original JTTW, in context, the Six-Eared Macaque and Wukong are widely considered to be of 'one mind' or 'one heart', thus sharing DNA and making them functionally brothers by SOME interpretations. However, in LMK this is fairly clearly not the case, and on top of that, the Six-Eared Macaque is merged with the Macaque Spirit King (who was part of the brotherhood and was wukong's sworn brother) so they're. really not brothers in this, even when taking into account the original context.

As someone who watch OSP video and with how this show change some part of the story, i wonder the stort is that when Monkey King was fighting his imposter, he didnt know it was Macaque becuase well, what kind of evil "villain" would like to...oh i dont know, want to re-create their own "Journey to the West" by make a copy of the gang out of monkeys? I not suprise the reason why Monkey King was so upset that he have to "kill" is because Macaque basicly try to replace him on that journey it self with Macaque use the same arguement like when he show MK the shadowpuppet show to tell his origin story...

I don’t know if he killed him or not. So far during the show Wukong always acted like he was expecting Macaque to show his face again at anytime. When he heard of Azure Lion returning, he was confused because he knew that he put him in the underworld himself. He never behaved that way when Macaque was around. He probably didn’t know that he was dead at all

And in the canon of the show Macaque died during that fight and was brought back by the Lady Bone Demon, which is how he ended up stuck working for her. I can’t get over the parallels of the dynamics between Macaque, Wukong, and MK. You can’t convince me that when Wukong was fighting against MK he wasn’t having flashbacks to when he faced Macaque (the battle that led to him putting Macaque in the underworld) plus there are so many times in the show that Macaque looks out for MK because he worried that he’d share the same fate as him by being around Wukong. Both Monkey king and Macaque use their history with each other to guide the choices they make with MK and it’s such brilliant story telling it has me screaming!
