It amazes me how Jon's leads continued to sound so sloppy all those years. It's like his right hand can't keep up with his left or vice versa.

I think that’s what makes him awesome tho, not being the most proficient but it adds flavor of the soul to the playing.

It’s the high-gain tone. Everything sounds muddled due to that. This was before everyone went digital. Once upon a time, everything was all amp and pedals. If they were playing through a Protools EQ like everyone does now, it would sound clean as an operating room.

@@donaldlove4547 Idk man, other bands had way cleaner sounding solos back then and everyone was still recording through a mic'd amp. EQ isn't anything new either, nor does it magically make you sound super clean and tight. That's still mostly down to technique. Also, every amp has EQ built in. That's what the bass, mid, and treble knobs are.
