Shadowserg probably played a very outdated version, either that or his attacks of choice did not trigger the gore animations, because they were implemented for sure, you can check it out.

In the original game, defeated enemies usually disintegrate into pieces of flesh and guts with a distinctive "meaty" sounds. As far as I can see, Night Slashers X totally ignores the mentioned feature, which is kinda strange and wrong 🤔

It's not like you couldn't do gore effects in OpenBoR. Streets of Rage Zombies has pretty much everything this game lacks.

@@RokuroCarisu Streets of Rage Zombies does not have that, and this game actually does, the thing is, Shadowserg is either playing a very outdated version or his attacks of choice did not trigger the animations and dismemberments, because all those including the onomatopoeias actually are present in the game, the developer of this OpenBOR mod, BonusJZ, did implement them. You can check it out yourself.

@Limited Infinity Two things that I did not like about this one is that controller support is wonky, and also that Hong Hua is not present. Both things got fixed in the two alternate versions, Wide X Ash, and Rebalanced. I haven't played Rebalanced yet, though.

The OG nightslashers game is still much better. I think the OpenBoR-engine alone just cheapens the experience plus the ripped off assets just doesnt fit in too.

I would not diminish BonusJZ (the maker of the OpenBOR mod)'s work. He implemented a lot of things not shown in this video, and also, tbf,The OG night slashers definitely wasn't perfect, you could not even run diagonally, and most special moves are not listed anywhere.
